My children all went to this school and I rate it a 2 out of 10. The principal truly doesn’t care about anyone and does as she pleases. Teachers don’t stay, my daughter had 2 different teachers in the SAME year. I wish I knew 3 years ago what I know now, I would NEVER have sent my kids here. My kids would be better off doing online school with a virtual teacher.

I see this school as symbol of excellence, the teachers commitment is noticeable and so far i am having a great experience as a parent as well as my son.

My child has an IEP and, other than the head special education resource person who initially wanted to push back on my request for testing, I have felt heard by admin, teachers, and other special Ed teachers and finally have some answers (I was right to push for testing). I don’t think we would have caught my daughter’s needs as quickly at other schools. Also, compared to other schools within area, Vaughan lets their parents in! Meaning, attend events, eat lunches, walk them in the first week, etc. The school we came from wasn’t nearly as accommodating. My daughter’s teachers literally have been like family to us. So far, I am beyond pleased with Vaughan.

In my experience, some of the teachers that have been here for a while are stressed, burned out and have a lack-luster attitude toward the students. My son has reported that his teacher often ignores him and raises her voice at the class. I plan to address this with administration before it continues.

Not a safe environment for black children due to the administration. This place lacks diversity and intentionally does not hire a diverse staff. Representation matters. This place is a scary place for black children. Your child will be traumatized being here due to labeling of black children among teachers and admin.

Vaughan is everything I could have ever wanted in an Elementary school for my children. Every single teacher is great, the staff and administration are fantastic, and the community is close and inviting. Our children are challenged, encouraged, and made to feel welcome and loved. We look forward to 5 more years at Vaughan!

As the previous reviews note, this school and the administration do not support diversity. Even the few non-whites that attend this school are rarely accommodated for their unique differences. Our child has been verbally ridiculed by other children and once this was reported, the principal did not respond at all. Additionally, our child was highlighted to have a lying issue due to the incident. Children of color are not prepared equally to receive gifted instruction and overwhelmingly most of the students selected for target are white. As a parent, I grow weary at the vast micro aggressions that are perpetrated by the administration and students that attend this school on an almost daily basis . We sought this school out for high test scores but there is not equal preparation for all students to be high achievers. I would say if you are a parent of color do not overlook the racial equity rating here or the lack of a single teacher of color. The test scores are intriguing but your child’s quality of instruction and ability to feel safe and equal is more important than any test score. Unfortunately our child’s confidence and sense of belonging has been severely damaged by attendance at this school and made worse by teachers who do not see the value of meeting students where they are.

Both of my kids have had great experiences at Vaughan. All of their teachers have given them the extra help and attention they need. We have been at Vaughan for 5 years.

You need to be the advocate for your child, don't rely on the teachers (results may vary), definitely don't rely on the administration or counselors.

Terrible experience. We moved here for the school, based on ratings, and my eldest child has been miserable. His health has declined. He is actively bullied, and hates school now. If you are new, or different in any way to the white upper class esthetic, don’t even bother here, you won’t fit in, and won’t be accepted.

They are great with raising money for PTA, STEM and making sure the children get the most help if they are behind. This school however is not in a forward thinking area when it comes to diversity. Dont expect diverse staff and definitely do not expect any extra attention or programs during Black History Month. The school is still very much in a rural area with the mindsets of keeping things a certain way. If you want a diverse setting this is not the place for you. If you are strictly about education and test scores only then its the right place.

I moved my child to this school based on the test scores although my chile scores pretty high I wanted her challenged. I have not seen a challenge. Also she hates going to school which she has never said before. She is usually a child who loves school and hates to miss a day. I really feel a lot of the teachers especially the front desk staff need diversity training. As they can be a little racially insensitive at times from my observation.

This is my sons first year at Vaughan coming from Dowell and he’s much happier, he was a feel learning set backs and was starting to get bullied at Dowell but all the kids have been respectful to him at Vaughan and the teachers are great with him.

My grandchild goes to Vaughan and our family couldn't be happier. All of our interactions with staff have been positive and welcoming. It is clear that the students get more than just an education there. Love the SOAR theme!

The new principal the worst leadership ever. No connection with parents whatsoever, doesn t bother with listening to your concerns and if you are "lucky" to get an appointment with her you are wasting your time. You will never get to the point when school takes appropriate actions toward your concerns even if you have all evidences to present. We moved to the area because of great ratings of this school. Now we have to admit if was the biggest mistake we ever made. My child is completely discouraged by favoritism that practices at school. If you are not one of those parents who will send donations every months and be a always at school parents your child has very little chances to be treated properly. And if you are a different nationality you will be judged from the minute you enter the school. My husband and I decided to sell our property and move to another school district. And next time we will make sure to check the school not based on online ratings and we hope we won t make the same mistake ever again.

Vaughan is an amazing school. The teachers are amazing, the administrators care for the students, staff and parents, and the PTSA is active and organized. Better than a private school!

I have two children who attended Vaughan from Kindergarten through fifth grade and it has been a very positive experience. Parents are encouraged to become involved and the teachers and staff care deeply about the students. As another parent said, many of the staff members live in the area and have children that attend Vaughan so they have a vested interest in the school. The middle school and high school that Vaughan feeds into are also fantastic schools. I would highly recommend this community to anyone wanting to move to West Cobb.

Vaughn Elementary The worst school experience possible. If you are new, your child does not stand a chance of breaking the code. The Teachers are not helpful. Administration even less helpful. My child is so discuraged, this school year cannot end soon enough!
