Porter Ranch community school is great school that has both Middle school and Elementary school. This school has a very good environment, which is very important for my kids. They had lots of good friends and performed very well. Compared with other nearby schools, this school has an advanced academy that can help the kids achieve a high 10/10 Test scores rating, which outperforms 93% of similar schools in California per the Academics. The review rating depends on personal perspectives of the parents. But the Test scores/Race/Ethnicity/Student Demographics ratings are accurate. You can look at the Academics data for yourself. These data show excellent performance for a big school with so many grade levels. I would strongly recommend this school!

This is an amazing school. It feels almost like a semi-private institution. The KDLP program is particularly valuable, as it allows kids to learn dual languages and progress quickly compared to other classes. Parents are also deeply involved in the school programs, showing a lot of passion.

I'd like to address the elephant in the room: the parents and students at this school. It’s a place where entitlement and pushy behavior run rampant. Students often don’t receive the grades they deserve because teachers either fear or are simply too exhausted to handle the barrage of phone calls and complaints from parents. The bullying here is on another level, with students showing little to no respect for authority. They’re not accustomed to being told ‘no,’ and parents seem too afraid of upsetting their children to actually parent. As a result, the school environment has become a breeding ground for toxic behavior.I eventually had to transfer my child to another school, but before I did, the negative atmosphere had already taken a toll. My child was losing sleep and experiencing hair loss from the stress caused by peers. I truly feel for the administration, teachers, and staff who have to endure this on a daily basis—dealing with disrespectful, self-centered, and often ignorant parents. Teachers, in particular, are paid to educate but end up being bullied by students. It’s a sad and troubling situation.

The problem with this middle school is its tolerance for bullies by the leadership. Most of the students know who the bullies are. The school know who the bullies are. However, as long as the bullies would just deny their misbehavior, they walk without any consequence. If you have a honest kid who dares to stand up to or push back the bullies, and describe what happened to the school, the victim is easily labelled as a trouble maker. It is no wonder the good students in this school have developed a learned helplessness altitude toward the bullies. The students would say "the school only dealed with the victim so the problem would disappear" or "the assistant principal is fearful of the bullies." The bullies also tend to form a gang of 3 or 4 in a group attack. Often there is one front attacker with the others surrounding a loner student, or were assigned to all potential exist routes of the victim. The gang also provide mutual alibi for their "innocence" so a loner victim tends to become the perpetrator. Under my home rules, my child was advised to "stand his ground" to the perpetrator and "be always honest" to keep intact of his integrity. These rules that I abide by myself failed miserably in this shcool. I had to transfer my child out of this school in the middle of a semester so he would not develop PTSD. My child is an A student, who is identified by LAUSD as highly talented. He missed the good students and good teachers of this school. Unfortunatelly, the bully issue is intractable in this school, and it is a deal breaker for us. My child is much happier after he was transferred out.

According to my son, he was subjected to yelling and raised voices during a recent interaction with the middle school assistant principal. As a parent, it deeply troubles me to learn that such behavior occurred within the school environment. Yelling at students is not only counterproductive but also detrimental to their emotional well-being and sense of safety within the school community. So sad one person ruined 6 years of a wonderful experience at PRCS.

Great school!! Both my kids love it here. Teachers are wonderful and contact parents when needed. My teachers are available via email and apps and I can ask questions easily. I love being able to volunteer on campus and help out in class and with special events.

I love PRCS and it’s faulty. The teachers, aides and admin are welcoming, attentive and based on my experience, are very aware of the kids and their safety.I couldn’t ask for a better school!

This is an amazing school. It is growing fast with so many developments around, but those changes are being handled very well. In general a great group kids, high parental involvement, community that cares about the quality of education. My kids love it here.

Fantastic school with great teachers, staff, and parents. More of a private school than public. Teachers have solid communication with parents. Office staff and yard staff are wonderful and on top of the kids. Dr. Demirjie resolves problems on the spot and this way issues do not escalate. He has always been fair with students and staff and hears everyone out. For a principle to be visible on campus to parents and students shows how much he cares about this school.

My experience at Porter Ranch community school has been the best. I feel very safe and there are rarely fights at our school. The teachers are very respectful and always tell us to keep a growth mindset. Especially the highly accelerated are very well-behaved and are role models for the other periods.

PRCS has gone downhill FAST! Kids vaping in the bathrooms with elementary kids walking in. Lack of support from faculty. Only thing that matters to the school is getting money from the parents. Everything else is secondary. You are better off at Castle Bay.

We moved to Porter Ranch bc of the school’s reputation- we have appreciated all the school events put on lovingly by the PTA and all the support for enrichments from the Booster. This school is heavily funded by parent donations- so we get the feel of a private school without paying the $30k+/yr tuition. We look forward to many more years here.

The Principal Mr Demerji does not value or respect parents of students. When an issue occurs with a staff member, he will always stand by his staff member even when their behavior was aggressive and/or unprofessional towards the parent. He will not try to resolve the matter nor hear the parent out if their word is different from his fellow staff member. He lacks leadership for the school officials and it shows in his actions. He is more concerned about being friends with his colleagues rather than taking appropriate action against one when necessary. Dangerous enabling behavior displayed by him.The middle school is a disaster. There is no proper communication with parents. Children are spoken to horribly by teachers and other middle school personel. Recently a student took drugs in a middle school bathroom, which they received on campus from another student and was taken via ambulance to the hospital from school. There was no communication with parents at any point on the matter or how it would be prevented moving forward. The student who gave the drugs is still in attendance and was the next day following the incident putting more children at risk. This again speaks to the lack of respect and value towards parents and students.There are little to no enrichments or clubs for the middle schoolers. Students are assigned a large volume of homework but are not properly taught. If an issue occurs at school, you are notified prematurely prior to all facts being gathered and even proof for that matter of your childs involvement. There is so much wrong here and it all stems from the lack of proper leadership at the head with Demurji.My family and I moved to the area for the school due to the high ratings so it has been VERY unfortunate of the challenges when it comes to school officials here.

Absolutely the best little middle school in LAUSD! Only comment is it needs more enjoyable electives for middle school studentsAnd that will come with time. It's a public school with extreme parental involvement. That involvement brings everything up to the highest level of expectation and the students rise to the challenges and perform better in school than expected. Go PRCS---yeah!

My daughter who is 5 years old attends Porter Ranch Community School (PRCS). It's her first year there as a TK (Transitional Kindergarten) student and so far the experience has been great. The school is brand new with state of the art technology, clean campus, and the staff is wonderful. The parents are very involved and the curriculum is excellent. My daughter loves her school, classmates, teacher, and has learned so much already.

PRCS Rocks!!! Our Principal, Ms. Mary Melvin, was awarded the Principal of the Year award through the Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber last year, and she is so very deserving of this recognition. She is an amazing leader and we are so lucky to have her as our first principal at PRCS. The staff at PRCS is highly qualified to teach honors classes. Ms. Shumate is head of Leadership and does an amazing job with our Middle School students, teaches them to be independent preparing them for HS . This school is only a year old, and our API score is 924. Amazing for a brand new school of 900 students. Love PRCS! Not just the school, but our PRCS family as well. So proud of you Coyotes!
