We could not be happier with Amberly!

Amberly Elementary has been fantastic for my children. We are so glad to be here with the excellent principal, teachers, and support staff. Issues are heard in a timely manner and dealt with appropriately. We couldn't be happier to see such a great mix of kids learning and growing together. Look out, West Michigan - this is how it's done!

Amberly is a GREAT SCHOOL where all children are cared for. Students are expected to be respectful, responsible, safe and caring. The staff always has the students' best interest at heart and work in partnership with parents/guardians to meet student needs. The Here is your code: 9740496 is outstanding as seen by the many comments preceding the one angry parent that posted the January 2014 post. Too bad your site is being used to vent personal issues. My children have been at Amberly for over 18 years (yes I have an A and B team). They are all successful ...older ones were well prepared for secondary school and entered Big Ten Colleges. This is because of the leadership from Mrs. Daoust (principal) and high expectations of the incredible teachers! AMBERLY is the place to send your child if you live in Kalamazoo County.

The majority of the teachers at Amberly are top notch, truly caring about each student's individual needs. The leadership however is a disappointment; children should be treated with respect and kindness and I have witnessed quite the opposite with this principal. I really recommend looking at all of the Portage elementary schools before deciding on Amberly for your child.

Our daughter has completed one full year at Amberly as a first grader. As parents we were impressed with her teacher, Ms. H, now Mrs. G, the principal, Mrs. Daoust, and the many staff members we met on a daily basis. Our daughter was challenged, encouraged, rewarded, and thoroughly enjoyed each day of school (unless there was a sub as then her classmates could get rowdy). I have seen the PTA, principal, and teachers working together to provide warm clothes and school supplies for those children whose parents can not. Parent/teacher meetings are seen as so valuable that gas cards have been given to those parents who otherwise would not have been able to attend. We are happy we made the decision to move into Portage and send our children to Amberly!

I am fortunate and proud to say we have had kids at Amberly for the past 12 years. All of our kids have been lucky to have caring, capable teachers and a great principal who gets to know each of her students. The front office staff have always been professional and go out of their way to make everyone feel they can call with any questions or concerns. Amberly has been a solid foundation for our kids' education...they each have teachers who have been instrumental in shaping them into the confident and strong students they are today. My husband and I highly recommend Amberly to every parent looking for an ideal start to a successful education for their kids!
