Wonderful school with awesome teachers! The Principal Dr. Prince is such a hands on educator. The school always has events for the kids and is all about the children. I am proud my daughter is a Mendenhall Longhorn. She has special needs and they accommodate to every need she has.

I really do not have any complaints. I have kept my child here, even after moving. The dynamics, school culture, and sense of community is always present. There is always a desire to include parents, guardians, and family to be a part of what Mendenhall has going on. They offer After School Academy which provides students to take 'electives' and have experiences they might not ever be exposed to. I love this school.

With all the staff has been good except with the principal. On my opinion that school es way to big for her to be at.

Possibly some of my greatest childhood memories came from Mendenhall. Learning was always a fun experience which led to not only me but also my peers to excel in our studies. Compared to other elementary schools this school was probably one of the most organized. They taught us to be a leader, how to treat our elders and peers with respect, and prepared us for middle school. The school also holds such beautiful school spirit that’ll make me question others why they wouldn’t want to become a longhorn as well. And even though the old building may be gone; the school still carries the charm that I fell for.

My children have been attending this school for the past 4 years, in a rating of 1-10 I would give it a 5 just average. This school is not organized at all when it comes to when their's emergencies such as tornado warning or a class party for example and parents want to pick up students the staff all have something different to say so everyone's on a different note. Teachers not all are loving what they do. Some think that they have the right to speak to a child rude or scream at children starting with the staff in the kitchen and ending in the classroom. Their is only a few teachers that actually do love what they do and they can really show it to the parents and students. Probably just one teacher in every grade level, it's sad. Teaching skills are good but that's not the only thing that should matter!

Mendenhall is an elementary school with 600 students K - 5. 539 of those students are economically disadvantaged. The principal, Karen Noble, is a wonderful woman. She knows every child by name and makes a point to speak to them individually and give hugs when so many schools say don't touch. Her teachers are a direct product of her leadership. They all volunteer to tutor children every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the school year. About 40% of the students do not speak fluent English and come from homes where no English is spoken. The school has a high number of students with special needs, both cognitive and emotional. It is not unusual for the teachers to supply their students with supplies and snacks. The attitude of the staff is positive and happy. This school is a good example of how it takes a village to teach a child. Mendenhall has an active PTA that works very hard to raise money for the children to experience those activities and field trips that the more financially stable schools get to experience. This diverse population is not always easy to work with or accommodate. Many long hours are spent with staff and PTA to make this school successful.

This school was the best elementary school I went to. First I started in bilingual classes but up to third grade they switched me to an al English class and entered the PACE program. They didn't let me be in a class where I wasn't supposed to be at. They prepared me for middle school, they prepared me to enter all honors classes. The teachers are very nice. They make sure that you understand everything and make sure you do your best. They kept my parents informed about everything that went on in the school.
