My child is in several advanced and AP programs here, other than complaints of one of her teachers she has a great education and actively enjoys school.

Honestly sick of the amount of homework because i feel like i only work nowadays and wish that teachers would realize we have other classes. I'd rather do little bits for each class daily rather than do big projects.

Excellent! I have had my children in schools in different states and in several schools in Illinois. Plainfield schools are the best, from their preschool program to elementary school, middle school and high school, Plainfield schools are among the best.

Excellent school. Terrific and caring teachers with many programs and after-school opportunities. Ideal, safe location with beautiful small town appeal. Love it!

The ranking on this website is based on PARCC scores, which quite frankly is not a good way to rank a school. This is the original high school in Plainfield, and while it now has 2000 students and many of the opportunities of a large high school, it still maintains much of the charm of a small town high school. Teachers and adminstrators are caring and passionate, and if students challenge themselves with AP classes (which Plainfield offers nearly 30), they will get an outstanding college prepatory education.

I am so disappointed with this school. This school is emotionally draining. My daughter has been bullied and harassed fir months now and nobody seems to care! Her dean didn't care and told my daughter I have no day so in some matters! Avoid this school of you can!

I have two honor students at this school and feel that they have every opportunity to receive a great education at PCHS. The teachers email me with any concerns with my children, and respond to any questions I have --consistently. It is a large school and I understand that they are busy, but in my experience the teachers go above and beyond in helping my students excel!

This HS is an absolute joke. The teachers and administration are clueless when it comes to dealing with issues between peers and the like (bullying). There is no follow up ever over parent concerns. I've definitely seen first hand that if you have a special needs student, you're a burden. Ultimately we wanted a GREAT education for our child. We did withdraw our student from PCHS and enrolled student in another school district. Our child has been excelling ever since!! Definitely avoid this school district.

I just finished my first semester at Plainfield Central (I am a freshman). These are my first thoughts on it. First of all, the school is completely unorganized and unprepared for an emergency. In a tornado drill near the beginning of the year, we were told to stay on the second floor of the building. Obviously that is the wrong thing to do in a tornado. In our evacuation drill (For something like a bomb threat), all we do is go into the football stadium and sit there for 2 hours. In our fire drills, all we really do is go out and stand on the sidewalk by the street. There really isn't any roll call, at least from what I saw. The lockdown drills are the most frequent drills, and those are actually pretty normal. Overall though, I would not feel safe in this school during an emergency. Some teachers are very hard to talk to and get a hold of. Sometimes I feel some of the teachers don't really care about their students and are there just to make money. Yet I am receiving a good education from this school. All the teachers all know what they are teaching very well and deliver good lessons. Overall, It is a decent school, but I wish they would support the arts more.
