Ive had a great experience so far! My education specialist has been a great help with supporting my educational goals for my daughter. The school has been very flexible with just the right amount of structure for us. I heard about Sky Mountain through many positive reviews by friends and will recommend it myself to others - especially for those who have a strong vision for what they want their child's schooling to look like.

We love our great Sky Mountain Charter School. The school provides guidance on my daughter's education and leaves room for parent involvement. It provides regular online assessments and learning curricula that allow us to track our kid's progress. We love the flexibility it gives, and my daughter is able to excel in all subjects while achieving her goal in her sports of choice. She is now 2X Taekwondo Poomsae National Champion and 2022's National Poomsae Team Member for the 10-11 age group, and she also got 4s (Standard Exceeded) on her California State Test. Therefore, I would highly recommend Sky Mountain to any family who wants to keep a good balance of academics and family life.

If you would like to have great parental support and want to homeschool your child, then this is one of the best programs out there. What makes Sky Mountain a hidden gem is the staff. The teachers, counselors, administrative staff are all working hand in hand to help you navigate the independent study process. They have a test your child can take to determine what curriculum would work best for your child. They also have an extensive library you can have access to. I am a veteran homeschooler of many years and once the pandemic hit, we decided to look for a program that would offer us funds and that would allow my daughter to thrive. I not once regret choosing Sky Mountain. Also, the high school counselors are great! They have incredible knowledge. They provide the best guidance you could imagine. My daughter has always outperformed her grade level during state tests and works several grade levels above her actual grade. She has the time to explore a lot of other options that interests her, and she can work at her own pace. The funds help us buy books, supplies and classes she wants to take. We feel blessed to be working with Sky Mountain and we can wholeheartedly recommend the school.

This school was advised of an adoption 7 years ago. This year, they sent an email with the dead name on it, then a “grad pack,” and finally, they aired a graduation ceremony…all with the dead name. These events were separated by a few days/weeks, and all came with apologies & promises that they wouldn’t do it again. They don’t do their part for adopted students. If you have an adopted child or a trans child, steer clear. The men in charge will act like you’re just a complaining mom & like your child doesn’t get to have big emotions about the school bringing up old trauma. My other child’s initial IEP was a mess. The team showed up with no goals, then emailed them to me days after the meeting. We need to do a re-evaluation to prove certain things. It was done virtually due to Covid. I was shocked at the meeting, and the ES was surprised as well, when they tried to deny this child an IEP. Most of the admin here are something else. The teachers are fine though.

Our experience with Sky Mountain has been phenomenal so far. Our ES is very supportive. She checks in with my daughter on a regular basis and usually checks what she has learned during the latest learning period. We also receive the material fairly quickly once ordered. This school is very professional. My daughter is fairly advanced and having the opportunity to keep working at her pace while receiving instructional funds is really a blessing. I can highly recommend the school!

My year and a half of experience at Sky Mountain was truly deplorable. I didn’t learn anything freshman year nor the first semester of sophomore year. My favorite part was transferring to my current high school and leaving this mess behind. Parents, PLEASE do not send your children here. Find an alternative school that actually challenges and teaches students. Don’t go here. This was the biggest waste of time for me and I’m thankful I left when I did. The classes are so far below the level of rigor that is taught in school. I had to seek outside resources if I wanted to learn something. I’m especially appalled at the math department-the “Algebra 2” that was taught was NOTHING like what I had to re learn when I transferred to my current high school, and I ended up receiving a B in that class and now I’ve missed my chance of getting an honor of a gold robe at my upcoming graduation. Please listen and heed my advice when I warn you that this school sets students up to fail. The classes are a joke. There is no rigor. There is little to no opportunity for advanced courses (and the “advanced courses” that are offered aren’t advanced by any means. For example, ‘honors’ world history consisted of the EXACT SAME course material as the regular world history. The only difference was you had to complete it in a shorter span of time, and maybe write an extra essay or two. That is not ADVANCED. This “school” really needs to re evaluate what they’re teaching and actually practice what they preach. Until then, DO NOT GO HERE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Send your children some where they can actually receive a quality education and graduate with adequate college preparedness. Sincerely,A senior at West Ranch High School (class of 2020)

Excellent charter that offers maximum parent choice. Experienced and stable (too many charters pop up, function for 2 years then shut down). Highly qualified staff that really care about their families and students.

Myself and my kids love our ES and have enjoyed our time with Sky Mountain. We have every intention of continuing our education with SMCS through high school.

We have had an amazing experience with our three children (6th,9th,and 12th grade) since we switched over from another charter 10 years ago. My kids are each so different in their goals that it is nice to have options for all of them.

The ES we received was great. The testing site was disorganized and my son didn't test for math even though I drove him over and had to drive back for him within an hour because their server was a mess they said. I don't know how credentialed this school can be if they are not even submitting the state required testing. When I transferred to a different school they went ahead and requested the materials back and said they would be sending someone out to pick it up or that we could drop it off at their school site...a ways out of my way. Later they sent a letter stating that we could drop supplies at their ES's houses in our "area". Well there was no one on the list near my area and what it means is that I'm going to try and coordinate to have to make an extra trip into another town to drop off supplies while trying to homeschool my three kids and watch my two youngest because they need their materials back but didn't want to be bothered with picking them up. I love the idea of charter schools and wouldn't discourage that, but this school seems super disorganized and puts parents and students at the bottom of their list.

Sky Mountain Charter school part of the EIM Schools has the worst most austere teachers only concerned about work samples. They have no training in courses and many of the courses offeres by Sky Mountain are not vetted and the syllabi are so difficult the students have to spend 40 hours a week to complete the work. There is no actual principal. The so called teachers have little creditability and their supervisors protect and defend them even when they are wrong. It's like a mini little each hand washing the other. They dislike parents involvement yet blame the parents for everything and have strick demands that are impossible to meet. But Sky Mountain Charter School's staff perform themselves very poorly and the tests and classes they put together are always chaotic and unorganized. As a parent you have to fight for every little thing and you feel like you are being ignored. The Sky Mountain montra to parents is "if you don't like our school, go to another one" even though Sky Mountain is a public school they act as if it is their own private school where there is no recourse.

I homeschooled my five children through Sky Mountain. We had a wonderful experience with a wonderful supervising teacher. SMCS provided more funding than the other charters. I got all the help and freedom that I desired. I was not overly pressured by testing. They do not have a facility to attend classes so more if your funding comes straight to you and not to other staff or facilities. In high school, I had freedom to design courses that would best suit my student, as long as I documented how the state standards would be met. That is more freedom than the other charters. We were required to submit a writing sample in the fall and it's revision in the spring. All meeting were every 20 school days and were a good accountability time for me without feeling pressured. I highly recommend Sky Mountain Charter School as long as you do not need a facility to attend classes.
