Multiple children left due to bullying before school year ended. Teachers do not seem to have the tools to handle what is going on. Two students got into a physical fight in class and parents were not notified. My child was constantly picked on by other students and nothing was done. Also witnessed principal holding a little girl’s wrist really tight and the girl seemed to be very uncomfortable.

Where to start with this school. This is neighborhood school 0.3 miles and I had to remove my child from Esperanza. There is NO discipline for the children with behavior problems. Teachers are AMAZING!! Working so hard and have to deal with no disciplinary action, this start with Administration and the principal especially.I think Deer Valley Unified school district need to revamp the policies, discipline structure of the school. I reach out informing them I am removing my child. Because I previous complaints. A child shouldn't be in a classroom with another child distruping the class and nothing is being done.

This school has not protected my daughter on several occasions of bullying. Today a boy pulled her pants down at recess and nothing happened no call no repercussions to him and not to count no punishment from last incident. Maybe it’s time we seek an attorney

All three of my children have attended this school. Although we’ve experienced some bullying issues in the past, the Principal is great and supportive. Teachers are overall friendly and work hard to ensure that students are successful. The office staff is great and know each student and parent by name. The campus is secure and clean.

Although we were only in this school for one year of preschool, we felt our daughter and our family had a very good experience here. The only reason we will not be here next year is that we moved to another area and even then we have weighed the pros and cons of keeping her here on a variance (ultimately it just does not fit with our work schedules and babysitter's location). We are sad to leave.

We truly love this school. Like any school, there will always be something that could improve. Esperanza does, however, provide a great environment and safety net for students. Teachers and office staff care about students and know how to maintain a high level of safety.

We love this school! Although it is a title 1 school, the principal is great! She is accommodating and responsive. I have had 2 children at this school now and overall, they were both happy. Our misdle child is entering 4th grade and our youngest will attend kindergarten there. The curriculum could be more challenging and we did not care for our daughter's 2nd grade teacher, Ms. K, however, the principal moved her to another classroom with Mrs. Schneider and she enjoyed the rest of the school year. They have an excellent free before and after school program and teachers are very involved with the students. The school is safe and the campus is nice. The office staff is very informative and the teachers know all the students on campus. Even the librarian is involved with all the students. There isn't constant turn over and the main reason the school has a lower rating is due to lack of funding and free lunches. If you are fine with diversity and are an involved parent, you will like this school.

My daughter has been in this school since she has been in school. She is an excellent student and is being taught by great teachers every year. This year she is in 4th grade and now gas 3 teachers. The 4th grade team at Esperanza is an awesome team that work together to help all their students excel!

My son currently attends kindergarten and he is reading way above his grade level. The teachers are very supportive, the office staff is friendly and helpful and I've never had a negative experience there. Common Core is being taught, even at kindergarten level, and though it is different from how we learned, the teachers have been trained and able to show the benefit of it. Some parents just don't want to listen. I've had no problems with Esperanza. Parents need to stop criticizing and get involved!

It is a beautiful campus, but inside it's cold and very unfeeling. We've had issues with bullying to the extent my daughter was threatened with a little boy and a knife not just once but twice, transportation didn't even suspend the boy from the bus never even contacted the parents at all I know this because the second time he threatened my daughter we called the police and they woke the parent at night who had no clue at all! A teacher told my daughter she couldn't find the little boy & didn't hear it so couldn't do anything and the office said it was a pure transportation problem never even got to talk to the principal at all! Then on parents night when a few parents asked about the new math being taught more than one teacher referred us to google and said it could be explained there because even some of the teachers have a hard time with it! Pass if you can this school is beyond terrible & completely oblivious to anything going on at all, or willing to care.

I agree with the last parent completely... Forth graders don't even have a room or a locker so they must carry all school supplies plus they're lunch all day and home. Then there is the common core which makes no sense and is complete busy work. This school is very unfriendly to parents and I could not recommend sending your child here.

I wish I had the great experience as the others posted, we have had bulling issues, staff seems uninterested in students or helping. Classes are small and facility if beautiful, to bad kids dont get to use it in am when it cooler.Teachers arrive there when bell rings in am and leaves when bell release.

Esperanza has an excellent music academy and a wonderful staff! I kept my children at this school although we moved out of the "zone" because of the amazing educational and music programs! I would recommend Esperanza to all parents who are interested in incorporating music into their child's education.

This school is very good. Their developmental program is excellent. I had two kids who had excelled out of that program by fourth grade. The music program is excellent! There are two new music teachers who are very eager to help the students grow.

I have two boys that have gone through this school and one still attending. I am all over this district doing volunteer work for their schools and I can say that Esperanza is the most welcoming out of them all. Right down from the awesome office staff to the PTO there. The ladies in the office have gone above and beyond to help me out and I have seen on numerous occasions them helping parents or high fiving the students as I am signing in as a volunteer. I might add also that they WELCOME and INCOURAGE parents to come in and volunteer, another plus to this school since most of them around give off the feeling that you are a bother. I am very happy with this school and would tell anyone to send their kids here.
