I am extremely proud of this school and campus staff. As a full-time volunteer at DVMS, I have observed 2024 as the year of camaraderie with respect and excellence. Under the helm of Principal Utter, there is purposeful forward momentum at DVMS to improve not only test scores, but personal growth and ownership of students amongst themselves. The school received an entire grade improvement from the state of AZ over the last year. The vibe is positive and children respectful, which is quite a feat for middle school students.Cool story. A student rode his new scooter to school and left it in the bike rack. Unfortunately, an unscrupulous human jumped the fence and stole the boy's new scooter. Staff heard of the predicament. They personally took it upon themselves to donate and contribute to purchase this student a new scooter to replace the one stolen! THIS is the current culture at DVMS. Teachers and staff working together to love on and help students succeed in the classroom and in life! Bravo DVMS. Bravo.

the eighth grade boys basketball team was unnecessarily aggressive and the referees were ignoring violent fouls that injured hillcrest players. the dvms student body was taunting and screaming and essentially harassing the opposing team from the stands the entire game, and teachers and staff were doing nothing to keep peace. an aggressive and unpleasant atmosphere, very unsportsmanlike and uncomfortable to be in their gymnasium. their behavior was not deterred but seemingly encouraged by parents and staff in the stands and on the court. nothing was done to deter the aggressive nature of the dvms players as well.nothing to note about the girls team, they played well. :)

My son didnt take his algebra final and passed, even though he didnt take it. I asked him about it and he said he didnt know anything about algebra 1-2. He also said that the teacher let him on his phone constantly. Reaching out to the teachers, they said they were deeply sorry and would do something about the teacher, but its been a year and they still haven't done anything with that teacher.

Student behavior is out of control and there are no consequences. The teachers do not have the support they need to maintain a civil classroom The student's essentially run the school due to poor leadership. Many student's get by with bullying teachers and fellow student's. I would not want my child to attend this school. They have someone teaching that doesn't even have a two year college degree. They allow students to continue coming to class that refuse to do any work. The majority of work is done online. They do not support student's with learning differences. I know of student's that are poor readers yet are expected to do online work with no individual help available. Sad. The student's are paying the price for the ineffective leadership and incredibly disruptive behavior of many student's.

This is the worst school I've ever seen. I would highly recommend going somewhere else if you value a decent education for you children.

If your child gets Debra Jones as a math teacher, switch them immediately.

I'm a freshman now, and I went to DVMS for 7th and 8th grade. This is a wonderful school! The teachers really are there for you if you have any problems, personally or academically, and not just for those "popular kids". They really do care about all the students as long as you're willing to cooperate, and they take time to figure out what's wrong and how you can improve. The work isn't too hard, even if you're in advanced classes like I was, and they don't give much homework, which is expected in middle school. The lessons are typically engaging and easy to understand if your really pay attention. It really is a close-knit school. I know a lot of kids complain there's too much work or the teachers suck, but those are the kids not actually trying. I wouldn't rate this school beyond 5 stars if I could.

Im a Student At Dvms, A Seventh Grader. It's A Nice Looking Place With Friendly Teathers And Staff But Soon I Realized That This School Isn't The Safest, This Year They Took It To Extremes And Got A Police Officer To Guard The School, Both After Hours And Before Hours He/She Is Always There... Now You Should Feel Safe Right? To Me It Just Spells How Bad The School Is. The Student Aren't Better Either. The Cuss And Talk About Things Like Drugs (Mainly The Boys) Of Coarse They Don't Do It But Still They Talk. They Do Stuff They Wouldn't At Home, I Would Advise Parents To Ask Your Child A Few Questions Cause They Are Not Any Better. Another Thing Is Students Are All About Relationships And Dating, At This Young? They Ignore The Rules, While Doing It Behind The Teachers Back, But Of Coarse The Teachers Don't Notice It Cause There Priceless Students Wouldn't Do That. But The Learning Is Great Every Teacher Has There Own Way Of Teaching Making It Easier To Learn, When In Advanced (Like I'm In) They Will Give Excessive Amounts Of Homework Were It's Hard To Keep Up With Grades, Like Really Hard, Overall It's A Two For Me.

I am very dissatisfied with the level of professionalism by the leaders of the school staff.

it is a good school with supportive teachers and staff. The principle encourages students to reach their full potential.
