completely baffled at the lack of competence and disregard to the real issues that any public school will face and the willingness to turn the blind eye to the abuse and the lack of proper education that most of there students receive...

A traumatic and disappointing experience. Another federally funded program which is failing but they do their best to show on paper "good" results. The staff promoted endangerment and eloping of my child. They failed to provide nurturing and safe environment for my son. Neglected him academically and socially. They are very passive during IEP meetings and do their best not to develop any academic or integration plans on paper for each child individually. They are just putting vulnerable kids on a 3 years isolation plan without progress or support, many of those kids could be integrated partially from the start. Lacking so many things, and mainly education and training or even motivation to help local families. They think they are doing you a service for "watching" your kids during the day. That is it.

My son loves the STEM project learning and after school care programs. The maker space, science room and music lessons are the main reasons why he attends this school. I wish they had an art room with a dedicated art teacher, too!

My son has ADHD, and was denied an IEP. Mrs. Hodge said he was "too smart" for one, as if an IEP had something to do with intelligence! She proceeded to comment that ADHD isn't even real, and that it's a "behavioral problem!" My child was segregated from his peers and kept in another room like an animal! They frequently "forgot" his medication, then blamed him for misbehaving. A terrible principle, and an awful school.

Teachers are great, the principle lacks follow through. All talk, no action.

My experience at La Tercera has been amazing. Every parent hopes their child will fall in love with school and my son certainly has. The warmth and enthusiasm of the teaching staff creates a fun and positive learning environment for the students. The STEM focus has been interesting and enriching for my active son and I like how the Project Based Learning fosters teamwork and communication skills. There is a great sense of community pride and spirit here at La Tercera. I look forward to sending my daughter here as well and being a part of this family for years to come.

Dedicated teachers, terrific STEM program, extraordinary principal, enrichment and music programs. La Tercera develops a sense of community among the students, parents and staff. We feel very lucky to have two children here!

I am a mother of a wonderful 5 year old boy and he attends La Tercera Elementary. He absolutely loves this school and I do, too! I love how his teacher is so personable and sweet. He brought her flowers the first week he was there. I believe that one of the reasons why he loves her so much is because she is so patient with him specially when it comes to his speech delay. He has a hard time expressing himself because he can't express himself as well as he would like to, but his teacher makes him feel so comfortable that he has DRAMATICALLY developed his speech and I know that she has so much to do with it. I am so happy that he is happy for this reason and also because he loves to play with all the magnets and different toys they have for him in TK. I highly recommend this school to anyone that wants to see their child excel. I know that this school was rated low and I was hesitant in enrolling him for that reason but I am glad i saw passed that and got to experience my child attend this school.

We have had a great experience here at La Tercerca because of the fantastic staff, teachers, principal and families. We feel like we belong to a community and my daughter has made some wonderful friendships here, as well as their families. My daughter has really enjoyed the hands on learning experiences within the classroom. FOr Christmas, my daughter asked for chemistry kits and creative arts and crafts that she could continue using what she has learned in class at home.

We are so glad that our daughter attends La Tercera. The teachers, principal and administrative staff are all wonderful and so dedicated. Our daughter has thrived under the well-structured curriculum that while emphasizing STEM also fosters her emotional and social well being in a creative, caring and fun atmosphere. Rachel Starr

I am a retired Resource Teacher from Petaluma and Cotati-Rohnert Park Schools and the grandmother of a transition-kindergarten student. I help in my grandson's class and participate in school activities. I have seen many school communities, and I know a cohesive school culture such as La Tercera when I see one. The staff is warm and inclusive rather than strict and punitive. They (including the Kids Care staff) handled my not-quite-five-year-old grandson's adjustment difficulties with compassion, consistency, and flexibility. He now has adjusted well to his school schedule. He loves his teachers, the class curriculum, library, and music. Mrs. Hodge sets the tone and is a hands-on leader.Therese Menzel

My 4th grade daughter has attended La Tercera Elementary since Kindergarten, at which she has thrived. Many of her friends have moved to other schools, but we have stayed at La Tercera because we love the diverse community, the attentiveness and creativity of the teachers and the drive to continuously improve the curriculum and supplemental programs. Not only does my daughter feel at home at La Tercera, but as a parent I do too. Every year, the teachers have encouraged and open to parental involvement. Not just with the PTA, but more importantly within the classroom. I'm proud to be a part of the La Tercera Community.
