We have two children who attend Spring Hill. Our youngest started in pre-K and continues to attend at Grade 1, while our eldest started at 5th grade and now attends the new middle school at 7th Grade. Both of our children look forward to going to school every day, love their teachers, are excelling in academics, and have gained a maturity, independence and respect that one does not see as much in peers attending other schools. We are really happy that Spring Hill expanded in 2017 into a middle school program because they are a great school and nothing of the same caliber is offered in Petaluma. The best way I can describe Spring Hill is that it's a real community - supportive administrations, teachers, students, parents, etc. And by real, I mean real - not just talk. You see it in every day actions of everyone involved in the school. Our children are not just getting a great foundational education, but the teachers tailor curriculum to each student. Our eldest was a little bit behind in math skills when he first attended, so his teacher focused on getting him a stronger math base, and now he is performing polynomial algebra and geometry as a 7th grader (I wasn't introduced to that level of math until my sophomore year in high school). Our youngest wants to read to us EVERY night and is excited about doing homework. Spring Hill doesn't send the kids home with an excessive amount of work - it feels just about right for each grade level. My only critique is that sometimes the school will over communicate for our taste - some parents want to know everything and what to expect. Great for the parents who want to know all - but after your children have attended the school and you are dialed in to the community, we pretty much get it and don't need to attend an evening informational meeting about what school will be like at the next grade level. Overall, a wonderful school and we feel lucky that our kids and us are part of it!

I have four children who attended Spring Hill from toddler through elementary grades. I saw their success through high school and into college. I have no doubt that the foundation they had from this school helped define them and gave them the tools to be successful academically (honors students) and as problem solvers, creative thinkers, and leaders. I believe their brains are wired differently from their peers' because of the attention teachers gave them, the emphasis on collaboration as well as individual work, the ability to passionately pursue their studies with the desire to excel, the personal responsibility they were given for accomplishing their work, the focus on kindness and constructively working out differences. I now have three college graduates and one midway through college who are all fearless in pursuing what they love with integrity and tenacity, and they are successful and happy in their lives. What more can a parent ask for? I highly recommend Spring Hill for these reasons and many more that don't fit in the allowed word count here. Visit and find out what they can offer to your child.

Our three children attended Montessori in Petaluma and they are so much more mature, confident and socially adjusted than their peers after graduation. The environment is designed to stimulate their natural curiosity and encourage them to satisfy it by study and investigation WITH their classmates. Differences of opinion between students is resolved by them with the guidance of the teachers peacefully and to their mutual satisfaction. Our children are always praised for their presence, maturity, sensitivity, creativeity, and resiliance. The Montessori way works in amazing ways. Sit in on some class days and see the quiet magic.

This is one of the very rare schools in which all of the teachers are truly compassionate about guiding your children and respecting their individual needs. The second you enter the classrooms, you get an amazing sense of calm and order. If I could go back to school again, I would have wanted to be a student at this school. My children (preschool and first grade) love going to school here.
