While many highly trained teachers work hard to meet the needs of their students, they are inconsistently supported by administrators, the majority of which are related to the owners of the school, and are not qualified or trained in school leader or administrative positions. Decisions are highly reactionary, including expulsion of students. Considering the school’s price tag it should have higher quality materials and technology provided for the students; almost all supplies including Chromebooks must be purchased by families. Short staffing causes curriculum to be inconsistently implemented. There is no school nurse, though medication is held and distributed throughout the day. Former staff and teachers are shunned and dealt with in a hostile manner.

Cambridge School is a remarkable school designed to help children with dyslexia and other language based learning disorders succeed in life. The school places an emphasis on kindness and character education in addition to having cutting edge educational programs for students with dyslexia. The staff is more highly educated than any other K-8 school I have ever experienced. All staff members are trained in Wilson, even if they teach gym. The performing arts program is top notch. The staff tries to identify strengths in each child and then encourages the kids to excel in that area, building their self esteem and self confidence. For such a small school, they have a remarkable array of enrichment programs. Students can learn to play instruments, take singing lessons, join a variety of clubs or play sports. Everyone at Cambridge seems to smile a lot. The kids love their school and their teachers. It is the only school I know of where the kids cry on the last day because they are sad that the year is over. My child has made unbelievable progress, especially given the severity of her disability. She can read at grade level and her writing skills continue to improve on a daily basis. If you are looking for a school that can address your child's dyslexia in a warm, caring environment, look no further. You won't find a better school for dyslexic children anyplace!

The Cambridge School has been a godsend for our youngest daughter. We found the school after two terrifying years in public schools. Our daughter is dyslexic and by the third grade, she still wasn’t reading at all. We enrolled her in the Cambridge School upon a recommendation from a summer school teacher. We haven’t regretted our decision for one moment. The teachers at Cambridge are amazing and the curriculum is structured to support students with language-based differences. Our daughter is currently a sophomore at the Cambridge High School. Her freshman year was our best year yet. The high school curriculum is both innovative and supportive, and the faculty is passionate, experienced, and caring. The small class sizes really allow the teachers to focus on each student’s strengths and challenges. Our daughter is currently working at grade-level in math. Her vocabulary and reading comprehension are on par with the eleventh grade, and she is a strong, skilled and independent writer. We are in awe at how far she has progressed since the third grade. We cannot recommend the Cambridge School highly enough!

Not only does Cambridge School meet our daughters’ needs academically, it provides them with opportunities for social growth through extra curricular activities making it a true school experience. They have made wonderful friends as they continue to build their self-esteem, artistic talents, and athletic abilities.

Our son went to The Cambridge School for 6th, 7th and 8th grades. He had such a positive experience there. The teachers and staff are so committed. The students are kind to each other. We could not have been more grateful for the experience. With the supports the school has in place, I, the exhausted parent, was able to gradually withdraw myself completely from the homework/assignment process and provide our child much needed full independence and accountability with his work. In particular the Hockman writing program taught at Cambridge School has proven invaluable for our son. From Cambridge School our child went to a private learning different boarding school in the northeast where he has been thriving, both socially and academically, on the honor roll each term. The Cambridge School experience, for us, was the important turning point that our child needed. We will forever be grateful to the school.

We moved our daughter to Cambridge because the philosophy and teaching methods used could remediate some of her learning differences, as well as teach her self-advocacy and compensation strategies. An individual learning profile is developed for each child, then a plan, which is followed, reviewed, and updated if needed. It's not a one-size-fits-all plan. Report cards are very thorough. The small class size allows teachers and administration to really know each child and his/her academic and personal strengths/weaknesses. The teachers quickly understood and worked with her learning differences, as well as understanding her personality. Every child is encouraged to challenge themselves and to do his/her best, and each child is appreciated and recognized for his/her individual talents, skills and interests. If a child needs additional help outside the classroom, it is provided. If a child needs enrichment above what is being taught in the classroom, that is provided as well. This is a supportive environment that promotes teamwork while also recognizing and promoting individuals. We are extremely happy with the school and that they have well-prepared our daughter for high school.

Cambridge is the most amazing school ever. It is top notch. My daughter is dyslexia and has the honor of going to Cambridge. It is my son who is not dyslexic who is at disadvantage because he is not getting the experience and education my daughter gets. Cambridge provides a warm and loving environment that allows each child to be themselves and shine. The school is run so well and they have every detail down to a science. My daughter who cried everyday and begged us not to go to school at public now does not want to miss a day of Cambridge. My daughter learned to read and write within weeks at Cambridge. Her low self esteem changed within weeks of attending Cambridge and she now knows she can do anything she wants to do. My daughter learns more in second grade then my son does at public school in fourth grade. I can not say enough wonderful things about Cambridge. There is nothing that I would change, we could not be happier. It is ashamed all schools are not run like Cambridge, children would be happier. It is an honor to have your child attend Cambridge, we feel blessed one of our children gets this life time opportunity!

When our son came to Cambridge two years ago, he was greeted with a friendly smile and a warm hello by administration/teachers. He was shy due to expressive/receptive language delays, and lacked confidence due to bad experiences at his local public school. Cambridge has given our son the tools he needs to compensate for his learning disability and become a successful learner. Now he WANTS to learn! EVERY member of the staff has encouraged him to take risks and he has experienced true success. The OT/Speech programs are outstanding with top therapists. They work together with the classroom teachers, who are language specialists, to reinforce skills taught in therapy sessions! Our son now knows that he can accomplish anything that he puts his mind to. He eagerly participates in class activities like the Science Fair and in extracurriculars, like the musical Bye Bye Birdie . Writing was a real challenge, but now he can write a Quick Outline and paragraph. The incredible growth in our son s academic abilities, social interactions, and self-confidence is a credit to their program. Cambridge School has given us HOPE that our son and will have the chance to have a successful life.

Cambridge is a child-centered school, with a curriculum built on Integrated Language based & differentiated instruction, utilizing Evidence-based programs to deliver results. The school environment fosters respectful interactions between the Lower & Middle school children that spawns a self-belief & develops self-esteem & confidence. The delivery methodology of the curriculum is based on scientific child-development models & thus impacts positive & sometimes amazing changes in the student's academic, functional & social-emotional states, that motivates them to learning.

I cannot say enough good thing about the Cambridge School. Cambridge is a small community of students who have had challenges due to learning disabilities, ADHD, or have faced negative school cultures and lost their will to learn. Cambridge has been a gift from above. Our child entered Cambridge with little self esteem due to his previous private school experience. He has flourished at Cambridge and has excelled academically. Students are truly taught to write well. In recent standardized test, our son has jumped 5 grade equivalents after 2 years at Cambridge. Students welcome others and treat each other with respect. The teachers and administrators take a personal interest in helping each student reach their potential. I have never seen such a consistently positive and enthusiastic staff. Cambridge is a wonderful place for children to feel included, cared for and supported. You will never regret sending your child there. Your only regret will be that you wished you sent them sooner.

My daughter was asked to leave the local prep school in kindergarten when she was diagnosed as dyslexic. In 3 years of pre-K and K, her self esteem and confidence had been shattered. She entered Cambridge shy, withdrawn and reading at the 10% percentile but comprhending at a middleschool level. Six years later she reads at grade level, spells better than me, is very confident, socially comfortable and thanks to Cambridge's nominations has been accepted into John Hopkins Search for gifted and Talented youth. When her younger brother showed signs of dyslexia we didn't wait for him to fail we enrolled him at Cambridge in Kindergarten. He has never known failure and he doesn't even know that dyslexia is regarded by some as a bad thing. It costs a lot but its worth every penny.

This was our son's first year at Cambridge. He attended public school for 1st grade and had a miserable year. His public school wanted to put him in a self contained class and labeled him "communication impaired". We did not want him in self contained as we felt that it would not benefit him. He did not need "to go at a slower pace", he needed the right program. After a waste of one year where his reading and math skills regressed we moved him to Cambridge. Before Cambridge he was shy and laced self confidence. He was aware that he could not read. After one year at Cambridge our son can read and grasps math concepts. He is reading at grade level. We call Cambridge the miracle school.
