Peacham people are passionate about their school! There is great support for education in this town. The school is small, which lends itself to real connection between the teachers and students. The teachers team up on projects, so there is great inter-disciplinary opportunities. One of my favorite scenes is watching the big, tough six graders sitting cross legged with the pre-school kids, reading them a picture book or drawing a picture of the snow. The school has a beautiful nature trail and school garden. There is support for nature-based and project-based learning. There is a world-class observatory right next door. And parents can get involved and enact change.

Our son experienced the most extraordinary early education at the Peacham Elementary School. He is now an avid reader who loves to learn. The school is nurturing and focused on individual learning approaches. The community of Peacham families is strong and supportive.

This is my son's first year at Peacham Elementary. We moved here from a large city where my son experienced bullying and violence at his former school. The classes we so large that it was challenging for the teachers to address each child as an individual and help, or even notice, when these sort of problems arose. Our experience in Peacham has been the exact opposite. Kids are encouraged to be who they are and interact with all students at all grade levels and taught to treat everyone with kindness and respect. The teachers are attentive to each child and make extra effort to know who they are and where there strengths and needs lie. My son felt right at home in a matter of weeks and is thriving both socially and academically. I couldn't be more pleased.

Both of my kids attended Peacham Elementary between 2013 and 2017. It is an outstanding school on all accounts. The administrative leadership is very strong, and the teachers are excellent. The music/band program is attended by nearly all students, and Spanish is woven into the curriculum within most classes. The school is located next to the Peacham Observatory, and they do both swimming at St. Johnsbury Academy and Skiing at Burke Mountain for PE. There is a very strong PTF. After school (Extended Learning Opportunities) care is provided through a grant-funded program. The school, PTF and community rebuilt the playground in 2016. Cows graze in the field next to the playground!Also of great importance, after attending PK-6 at the school, Peacham students can attend whatever school they prefer with the town paying for tuition. For junior high, most students attend either Barnet or Danville Schools (public), or Thaddeus Stevens or Riverside (private). For high school most students attend either St. Johnsbury Academy or Lyndon Institute, both of which are incredible private high schools.

I have a first grader and a pre-k student at PES and they both absolutely love it. The teachers are amazing and the principal and the rest of the staff are incredible!

As the Peacham PK-6 principal, I am reminded on a daily basis of the quality of staff commitment and care in providing a high quality instructional program to all of our students. PES is lucky to have an unusual level of parent and community support supporting our staff. Our Parent-Teacher-Friends group is responsible for annual fundraising to pay for a school-wide ski program at Q-Burke Mountain as well as swimming lessons at St. Johnsbury Academy. Out parents are currently working to plan and rebuild a PK-6 playground with student ideas and local volunteer help and donations. Our educational partners include the Fairbanks and Montshire Museums, the Vermont Rural Partnership, the VT Dept. of Agriculture Farm-to-School Program, Peacham Library, and Catamount Arts. We also boast 79% attendance in our after-school program which provides enriching activities and experiences to stretch our school day with its' Extended Learning Opportunity. Taxpayers passed our most recent school district budget unanimously in March 2015. Not one "nay." If you are looking for a high quality school that is an integral part of its' town's history and future, come visit.
