I love the way the teachers take each of their students personally and genuinely want them to feel successful. It's great that they have so much art at their school, too. Students have lots of opportunities to express themselves. The kids can always get individual attention because of the classes are small -- my kids like that.

I see it in the faces of the children at the Shelby school students and hear it in their voices when I walk by on a regular basis. Even people who have in the past had wrong ideas about the Shelby School have sent their kids there. That is the true testimony.

The Shelby School takes very seriously the matters discussed in the recent post regarding a missing student. Immediately after it was determined that the student was missing, the school mobilized all efforts at its disposal to attempt to locate him. The student was not left unattended. The School takes student safety very seriously. However, and with all due respect to the student s family, the school believes that the event is not portrayed accurately in the recent post particularly the suggestion that the School was irresponsible and lacked compassion for the family in the situation. We know this has been a very emotionally charged situation and we certainly want the family to know that the safety of all students has been and remains very important to us.

The administration at this school is decidedly irresponsible and unapologetic. My nephew wandered away during class and the school blamed him for their inability to keep track of him at all times. If the student acted out and caused havoc, I could understand a little resistance by the school to admit fault, but not keeping tabs on a child with special needs is unforgivable, especially when coupled with the fact that the school is taking no fault. Luckily, after wandering in the woods for 5 miles, my nephew was brought back to the school by strangers who were lucky enough to find him, but this does not excuse the school's irresponsibility in this matter, nor does it answer how they intend to address this kind of lapse on their part in the future. My advice to any parent or guardian wishing to enroll their child or children in this school: DON'T.

Great year for my 7yr old son last year. Already ahead a grade, he exceeded in all areas (reading and math) and is way ahead of the curve heading into 3rd grade. My 4-5 year old plans to start Kindergarten there this year. Safe. Small school environment gets great attention for the kids! LOVE the Cub Scout program they have there. They go the extra mile to do extra curricular programs (Scouts, Art, Chess) with the kids. It helps to have those opportunities that they wouldn't get at public schools in the area...

The Shelby School is run by a group focused on a husband and wife couple. This couple has unusual beliefs and practices, including a professed belief that the woman is a trance medium. The group they lead is controversial, justifiably so. Everything is strongly influenced by their beliefs and membership.

This school has very low standards and no discipline. The teachers are not qualified. I do not recommend it.

I've only been going here this school year and already have a lot of friends. Our teacher Glenn has been giving me a lot of one on one attention which is exactly what I needed. Although the teenagers can be a little mean everyone can lighten up to them in a while. I love this school and it is so much better than RCMS i hope i can stay here until 10th grade

This is without a doubt the greatest school in the greater Arizona area if not the entire country. It's not because it has a million different classrooms, or has state of the art equipment, or anything to fancy. But the teachers are probably the most amazing bunch of people in the whole world. They're all very intellectual, caring, and open minded. There are many rumors that go around Payson about this school and it's teachers, but let me assure you now they are not true whatsoever. I love waking up and getting to go to beautiful little Tonto Village for school everyday. Anyone who isn't a small minded moron can easily see that the Shelby School is truly an amazing place. It's not just a school, it's a family.
