Literally not even a real school by any significant standards. Poorest education quality, the teachers have no qualifications or idea what they are doing, you aren't even getting glorified babysitters, because even babysitters are less negligent than this school is. It took a week and a half just to get my son on a bus route, after a WEEK the bus barn still had nothing sent over from the office. Apparently they literally lost my niece and let a SIX year old girl off at a stop that wasn't hers the first week back to school without anyone there to greet her. Can you say negligent?Yesterday I get a call saying my son needed a change of clothes or he would not be allowed on the bus, why doesn't this school HAVE clothes for students in case of accidents? That's fine, I get ahold of the school and ask if I need to come get him, apparently they called EVERY emergency contact that was listed, despite this not really being an emergency. Now my entire family, for some reason, knows, clothes are brought to him. AND YET THEY STILL DON'T HAVE HIM GET ON THE BUS. No. They let my mother who I have an active restraining order against, TAKE MY SON OFF SCHOOL PROPERTY, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, AFTER SAYING THEY WERE GOING TO PUT HIM ON THE BUS. 100% zero accountability from the office, zero apologies for the severe negligent mistake they made, just "We are hanging up now" The callous disregard for my son's safety was deplorable.I can't even fathom the level of idiocy or lack of intelligence, sensibility, or concern for kid's safety. The fact that this school is the ONLY option up here is repulsive. I feel very sorry for Payson's youth that this is the height of public education in this town. Losing kids, handing kids off to people who they aren't legally allowed to be around. I don't know how but I'll be formally filing a complaint with the district tomorrow.

PE is in an interesting school. We are thrilled with the teacher and the progress my child is making. As a parent, you want your child to be challenged and the staff is willing to make sure that happens, pushing the kids to succeed. The school is old and a little funky-the gym has carpeting and no room for activities. The biggest concern is the bullying problem that has not been addressed since the bully's parent is a teacher. This is a well known issue amongst parents. Hopefully the school and principal will realize no child should be exempt from the no bullying rule.

Payson elementary My oldest autistic son attended this school an number of parents have complaints about the consistent neglect of our children . My son tripped over another students chair and 4 hours and 2 teachers later they did not notice or report his noticeable limp. I would never recommend any responsible parent to allow their child to attend this institution. I can back this up with medical bills and pictures. Thankyou

My children have been attending Payson elementary since 2006 (which totals 14 teachers so far!). My husband and I have never been disappointed with this school. The teachers are experienced & highly qualified. The new principal (2013) is outstanding. He is young & has a fresh perspective & has made a lot of positive changes. The only complaint I have is that PES is a bit overcrowded this year (2014), to which the district is aware & in the works currently to modify the campus. The only real problem with this is that the lunch room is small and so cafeteria time is limited & crowded. I noticed a previous review about disappointment in their special needs program: PES's special needs curriculum is no different than the rest of the state of Az: it's all the same wherever you go in the state.
