I've had 2 kids go through all 4 years at Palatine. They both have had largely positive experiences. The school definitely encourages college readiness and invites families to educational meetings and activities to support that goal. A small number of teachers cause a majority of the stress I hear about, but I also know they are open to talk with students and parents about any concerns.The principal, Mr. Medina, shows up at many extracurricular activities. I see him at sports activities, fund raisers, musical performances, and other school-related activities. He seems to really care about the students and Palatine community.

This school has a lot of rampant systematic racism, sexism, homophobia and ableism. If you go into a "Higher level" class, almost all students are white. If you go into a "remedial bad behaving" class, all the students are people of color. Most of this schools budget goes into its sports program which is overly white compared to the schools actual demographic. The school also puts a lot of money into its theater and music programs which are even more disproportionately white. If you bring your white child to this school, they will be cherry picked to be surrounded by other white students and not learn much about diversity. If you bring your child of color to this school... don't just don't. The only consistent positive I've experienced as an alum of this school is the teachers are generally compassionate and understanding of the students struggles and do what they can to help in and out of school. But as a white student that went here, I wouldn't doubt if that's the main reason. This school tries to preach college education as its primary goal but only actually pursues that goal with its white students. Most of the students of color are pushed down pathways of graduation straight to workforce. Yes there is a program here for special needs but it is terribly monitored with several horrific events within the school that are covered up by the schoolboard. The amount of times as a student I saw students with special needs forcibly held down to be "quiet" by completely untrained so called "teachers assistants" is disgusting. This school needs to do a better job at helping its disabled students flourish and grow, not worry about being sexually assaulted by an adult, untrained teachers assistant. This school systematically builds an environment of negativity around all of its non-white, queer, disabled, and special needs students. Don't bring your children here unless the curriculum you want them to learn is what it means to be systematically oppressed at the age of 14.

Excellent teachers, staff, programs, IT and science labs. When parents are engaged, this high school provides education that is challenging and prepares student for the real world and their future.

Both of my children graduated from PHS. One of them created their own business and are doing very well using what they learned while at PHS. The second child obtained his Masters Degree and is now teaching in Chicago Public Schools - again using all he gained from this fine school. We are very pleased with this school and moved into the area specifically so our children could attend Sanford, Sundling and PHS.

State of the art facility. They have a program for kids with special needs like no other school in the area. Will be happy to have my kids go to the same high school my wife and I met.

We attended the summer orientation, Fall open house, etc.. Getting involved was hyped. The reality is that road blocks are prevalent, Some of the teachers are not happy to be there, etc.. Media Center is still under construction. Etc, etc. Disappointing for our daughter and us.

Lot's of gangs, violence, kids doing drugs, and getting arrested. pretty dangerous school. As for the teachers, they're not that great, i've only met a couple that were good.

Excellent school in district 211. 1 notch below Framed but if your kid needs some diversity this is a great high school with excellent teachers with multi years of experience in subject areas.

The teachers are fairly nice, encouraging, friendly, and efficient. They had various amounts of clubs that were there for whatever you pleased. The clubs are tighnit! Although the students were alright.

Generally great classroom instruction and sports programs for a wide variety of students. Very disparate treatment of minority groups. Counseling is poor. Counselors are overworked, under-supervised and do not have family's interests at a priority. The DRIVE all students to the most difficult colleges as that makes the department look good w/o concern about the student and their family.
