Very Racist. Caucasian kids use the N word frequently without any disciplinary action . Administration do not call parents to be involved .

My oldest son has been attending Carillon Elementary for the past two years. He’s in second grade currently, and I feel the staff, teachers, and overall community at Carillon has been fantastic! My youngest is graduating Kindergarten this year and will start his 1st year as a 1st grader here as well. It’s a safe school, and the staff know my son by name! :)

We have been with this school since January. My son has had three teachers since then. I found out from another parent that complained several teachers did not return after winter break. No communication from leadership or administration. We received no onboarding, rude caddy office staff, and general disorganization. I understand things are more difficult due to Covid, however this has been ridiculous. Zero communication, we are expected to know how to access school systems that we have never used before. Oh well if you can’t access it, the teacher doesn’t know how to help you get access so your kid gets a zero. I don’t know how many times I’ve explained to everyone there that my son was not on virtual previously, we are NEW and have not even had the opportunity to meet his current or previous teachers, not even virtually. I know my son’s teacher as an email address.

We have been with the school last 2 years and My overall experience with this school was OKAY. Considering the school district and location, i would have expected BETTER. I find the teachers to be great! they seem to love what they do and my daughter never had a complaint about her teachers. I have seen improvement in her studies as well. Front office staff on the other hand is not very helpful and can really come off rude, common courtesy is not common here. This is honestly where I had most of my concerns. I had an issues the last couple days of school and considering it was my daughters last year before moving on to middle school, you would think they would want to send you off with nothing but with Good experiences. For me that was NOT the case. I felt the staff was not there for my best interest and if there seems to be a mistake on their end, they get really offended and defensive. Rather than being understanding and helpful. I understand we are human and mistakes happen but their “ I can’t help you approach” and “I Don’t DO wrong” is not the way. I would recommend to any parent to SPEAK-UP as soon as you witness improper attitudes. My only regret was not complaining a lot sooner in the year. I would also recommend not to submit CASH payments to the office as they have poor system when it comes to handling cash payments. I feel the Principle of the school looks out for his staff, which is admiring, but I think his biggest concern should be Students and Parents. At this point, it's either he acts oblivious to his staffs attitude or he really IS NOT AWARE of how they treat parents and students.

This year, my experience with this school has been very positive. The strong leadership and the caring teachers my children have makes a huge difference, of course. There is also a very active PTA and plenty of school staff that create a positive and inviting community culture. They do A LOT for every child in the school. I am both a teacher and parent, and my kids can require extra attention, so I both understand how tough it can be to teach my kids, while at the same time I want my children both cared for and challenged while I am away from them at work. I strongly believe that all of us have skills and talents, but I have to share that my son's acceptance into the gifted program seemed to make a tremendous difference in the opportunities he could have in school, and perhaps allowed his teachers a way to understand better how his mind operates. I am also working to be more positively involved in their school life, despite my work and commute. This year my experience has been great, but we've all been working on it together. That makes Carillon excellent, to me.

Our experience has been very good at the school. No school is perfect and I truly believe that everyone involved is doing their best. I must disagree that the PTA sets the tone of the school. I think the teachers and administration set the tone of the school. It has been my experience that the PTA welcomes as much help as possible. I have been contacted by them and always found them to be grateful for the assistance.

The good : My 3rd ( and final) child is in her last year at this school. The teachers are the best and thankfully a new principal who actually seems to care has just taken over. The previous principal left much to be desired. Things seem to be improving already with the replacement. The bad:We have watched this school slowly become almost sterile and even cold feeling. The PTA is a mix of a select few who are in it for the right reasons and then your stereo typical catty group of women that run everything and want to make sure you know they are doing it. There is very little communication regarding volunteer opportunities. The same group seems to take over time and time again giving no chance for others to step up and get involved. There is quite the bad attitude towards any parent that dares question why things happen the way they do or how money raised by the PTA is spent. There is no transparency and seems to be no public record of any meetings or spending. I would urge them to do an anonymous survey to ask why parents have stopped wanting to help, purchase memberships or even participate in raising funds. It will undoubtedly lead back to people not wanting to be around or associated with the negativity and endless gossip. Just this week in the media center conversations were overheard that should never be taking place anywhere let alone on the school campus. Ask around and parents will tell you it's obvious who is involved because they care and who shows up for all the wrong reasons. There seems to be a few who are there with the very best of intentions and it's too bad the bad apples ruin it for the rest. You may say the PTA is not part of the school and shouldn't affect the rating but I disagree completely. The PTA in every school is what sets the tone. There is just no denying that fact. After nearly 15 years with kids at this school I am sad to say that our final year here isn't what we would have imagined. Before you jump on me I have signed up every year to help and asked to be contacted. People want to help but are made to feel unwelcome if they are allowed to. It's very unfortunate but maybe with some house cleaning things could be improved. This school used to stand out for all the right reasons. Now it's known for all the wrong reasons.

The second grade teachers have so much passion in what they do. They believe in their students. Amazing school. I dislike the exterior entrances, but I believe the administration does their best to make it safe.

The school is full of hazing and abusive teachers. It is more like a survivor camp not like a school. One teacher told me it is my fault that she even has to work. Aweful.

I went to carillon and now I'm a student at Hagerty. I had really good teachers. My favorite teacher that I had is Ms. Patterson she's always their for all her students, and she's understanding.

I can not say enough about the teachers at this school. They are wonderfully caring and committed to their students. The music teacher especially is out of this world dedicated. My children have been attending this school for several years and I can't say enough about it. Love love love the teachers here.

Carillon Elementary is a fabulous school. I have 2 children there now, and my 3rd starting in the fall. We walk to school whenever we can. I know my children are safe there and they learn exponentially every day! Teachers at Carillon truly care for the education of my children. Love this school!

While I was very excited initially about this school, my excitment turned to disapointment. There is a strong "clique" at this school and bullying has been going on for years. I know of several parents who have removed kids and the administration blames it on the one being bullied. I have had to pull my child out due to school inaction. How long will the administration allow this to go on? Even one case of bullying is too much.
