We absolutely love this school and its community. Our child has had a very positive experience. Teachers are very warm, welcoming, supportive, qualified, and provide an enriching environment for learning. The parents in this community are very engaged, involved, and welcoming. We are grateful for this school and the lifelong friends we have found through it!

Best Elementary School ever. Thanks to all the Teachers!

The teacher quality varies a lot from room to room. We've had incredible teachers but also poor teachers. A big group of many of the best teachers left this year. I am thinking it's because of the principal. Charity was a great principal, but the new one doesn't seem to care about kids or parents. After years of small changes in staff, teachers are leaving in droves. The principal seems fake, unfriendly, and really more concerned about appearances and being the boss rather than being a good boss. I fear the quality will continue to go down until there's a new principal. We miss Charity!

Both of my kids went to SPE kg - 5th grade. When you walk in the doors, you can feel the positive energy. The kids are happy, the walls are covered in pictures and art work, the adults are smiling, music and laughter is heard throughout. This is a magical place.

This is by far the best school in the nation. The kids come first but are taught to be respectful. Our autistic son flourished here!

I have one daughter and one son who attended SPE from kindergarten through fifth grade. Even though my children’s personalities and needs are very different both had amazing experiences at this school. We were not part of the year when the district/state legislation changed from offering half day kindergarten but I know the decisions and communication we all mandated from the district not the individual schools. My husband and I love the teachers, counselor, and administration. We would encourage families to send their children to this school! If you are considering a move to this area you can always call (or stop in) to ask for a tour of the school. The office staff is very nice and will answer any questions you may have. (Including class sizes for your children’s grade level.)

Much of the hype about BV school district is exactly just that - hype. My child's classrooms at this elementary school have averaged 27 students which is even higher than the MO school districts. This school in particular seems to have a problem with teacher retention. They have lost some good ones and retained ones that should leave. If I knew then what I know now about this school, I would not have made the decision to move within its boundary.

I have had a child at this school since its doors opened in 2006. It is FANTASTIC! The entire staff (teachers and others) care so much about their students. The previous reviewer mentioned teacher retention issues. Hmmmm the enrichment teacher (along with a 1st grade teacher and the reading specialist) retired last year. They did not leave because of the school. Most of the teachers there have been there since the doors opened. The ones that have left in the last couple years have left due to family changes (marriages, spouse transfer, etc.). The class sizes are not any larger than the state limit and frankly, due to the state funding issues in the state of KS and the population shifts in the attendance area, the sizes have gone up this year. There is a new subdivision going in the attendance area that will increase the attendance enough to allow for the hiring of additional teachers and the class sizes will drop once again. Sounds to me like the previous reviewer needs to get more involved in the school and learn how things really work. I'm on the PTO Exec Board, we have a couple openings....join us and learn!
