Great Schools uses high school level statistics to evaluate schools. This type of analysis fails to capture complexity. Ossining has great schools but averages don’t capture a multimodal distribution of student outcomes. Instead of a normal distribution Ossining has two humps caused by a large number of English as a second language learners. The high school is possibly the top science HS in the country (look it up). The statistics on this site have harmed property values in our district and have caused great harm to our community.

Excellent. My child and her friends have had amazing opportunities in the nationally recognized science research program, the arts, and the many AP courses offered. They have been accepted at top Ivies etc. No idea where Good Schools gets its scores, but it isn’t accounting for the fact that Ossining has long had a solid cohort of high achievers whose families choose to live in a real community, not a sterile suburb.

I have a freshman enrolled in Ossining High School. Her first year thus far has exceeded my expectations. Each student is assigned a counselor who will remain with them for the duration of each students' high school career. The school offers many courses, including advanced, AP and SUNY courses which do indeed prepare students for college in many ways. I find it hard to believe that in this site's review that the Ossining Science Research Program has no mention! This is an amazing opportunity for our students. All students in Ossining have the opportunity to thrive in a diverse, positive and amazing atmosphere that goes unnoticed amongst districts like Yorktown and Chappaqua. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Ossining again and again. I have three children in the district who have all thrived and continue to thrive. Thank you OSSINING HIGH SCHOOL. I am confident that my daughter will continue to have a successful high school career and continue her successful academic journey into college and this begins with the foundation OUFSD offers.

My kids are both at OHS and are thriving, and very happy. They are right at home with diversity. They both excel academically, and the school has great sports facilities . We have gone through the entire school system and we would do it again if given a choice. I have actually looked into moving, and the kids got very upset. Love where they are!

As a parent I wanted my kids to be challenged academically, to have lots of enrichment opportunities, and to be prepared for life in the global community. OHS has delivered. Students who are motivated to do science research can work with world-class scientists in the NY area in a program recognized by Intel as #1 in the U.S. they can participate in excellent music, art, theater, Junior state, and sports programs. They can arrive in college with a nice portfolio of advanced placement courses. And they get to know all kinds of people. It's a well-rounded life. Very thankful for this school.

Ossining High School's math and science program are rated top in the country! The recognition that the high school has received in math, science, the arts, athletics and the placement of our graduating seniors into top universities, merit more than a 5 rating! Recently Westchester magazine rated Ossining number two in places to live in Westchester county. They listed the schools at the top of the reasons to live in Ossining! Great schools!!!

I have 3 children..boys...7th grade, 5th and kindergarten. Love the schools. My 12 year old in 7th grade loves AMD. I am very pleased. My two older boys are at the top of their class. All the teachers that we've experienced so far have been fantastic.
