My family had two students at OBMS. Some amazing teachers were there, and both of my children grew academically and socially. When they arrived at high school, they were ready to go and succeed!

i used to go to this school and it was absolutely terrible. there were only 2-3 teachers who care and vast majority of teachers didn’t know what was going on. people say this is a “nice” and “family friendly” but its not. i have witnessed teachers fighting students and bullying students. and when i attended there was sooo much bullying and fights and not only between students. this school is disgusting and was the worst experience of my childhood. they might have changed but i doubt it, i have friends that recently just left and they agree it is still the same terrible school. only a handful of staff if that actually care and most of them don’t work there anymore.

Teachers here are literally blind they do not see anything

Frozen sandwiches, assigned seats to supposedly stop fights even though that would start more fights, and having to waste have your lunch period just to wait for a pizza probably straight out of Chernobyl

The teachers are very on top of things. They recognize your student when they are doing a great job and so far it’s encouraged my daughter to keep doing her best. Every staff member has been excellent. My daughter has come home happy every day of school. She misses OBMS since the pandemic started.

My daughters have been here since 6th... One is now in high school and the other is now in 8th. We have had a pretty good experience overall. There's always going to be bullies and rude, undisciplined kids at any school but for the most part we haven't had any real issues.

A year ago it was wonderful, now I can’t recommend this school to anyone or actually any school in Volusia County. They’ve all gone to pot.

The quality of this middle school might be better than other options, but the happiness and sense of family here is terrible for which the common enemy for people here are the staffs.

Terrible school. Teachers lie and cheat and bully students. Students get in fights with teacher and kids.

This school is extremely wonderful. Most of its occupants are nice caring people. With a ratio of 15:1 with the greater being great students and the lesser being a bully. As each week at that school passes then we lose at least 2 bullies in the school. As everyone knows the bully problem cannot be resolved without full control of everything. Other than that the school is the best I could pick to attend for my middle school years. The education is one that thrives amazingly. The teachers express what they teach in such a way toware the students find it difficult to forget. When the finals come everybody is always well prepared and that is why we are so high up in the average success level out of the schools. I am very glad I go here for my middle school term and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.i recommend sending your children here to this place of learning. They are sure to gain intellect, social skills and be prepared for life ahead of them.

I don't like this school. The kids their can't behave themselves. And teacher or staff wont do anything about it. And I think you should know that the whole school is infested with head lice

I am a student here at Ormond Beach Middle school, and I have been since the second semester of 2012. Since then I have had nothing but amazing experiences with my teachers, counselors, and fellow classmates. 2014 is my last year attending OBMS, and it will be one of the hardest days of my life to say good bye to the amazing people who have not only brought me education, but guidance, friendship, and happy times. I want to grow up to be a teacher one day, and the fantastic teachers at this school are what I am going to set my goals for, I want to teach the exact way they do. Because of the teachers here at OBMS, I have received a 5 on my math, and reading FCAT every year since I enrolled, and I am confident I will receive a 5 on the science, math, and reading FCAT this year. One of my biggest hopes and dreams is to settle down and stay in this area, so that one day my children can attend this school. For any fifth grade students looking into where they will go next year, Go to Ormond Middle, you will have a great counselor by the name of Cam Blass, and some of the finest teachers I've ever had. I will miss this school deeply. I feel this school deserves a 5, from experience.

We just moved here from Singapore - where the school system is radically different (and a LOT harder). We love OMBS! The campus is simply amazing. More like a college than a Middle School. The facilities in the school are equally out-of-the-league of Middle School and are well-suited for today's learning methodologies. Our son is in 6th Grade and he loves it! His teachers are all very nice and he's excited about school for the first time in his life. He's motivated, enthused and excited about what he's learning and we love the way he's being taught. Everything from good structure and rigor to a Daily Brainteaser make his learning environment fantastic. This is a Great School indeed.
