Great school in a great area! The school has a lot of extras for the kids with a community that stands behind the school.

We absolutely loved this school, teachers, & students. I was so sad that we had to move away from Orange Beach! Orange Beach Elementary is the best! Sea, Sand, and Stars is great too...such a wonderful asset to the school!

Way behind in all aspects of childhood education. We expected this school to be a diamond in the rough based on prior reviews on various websites. We did have some reservations considering the state of Alabama is rated 47th for education in the US, but thought the affluent population would have influenced the school to recruit teachers that are focused on educating children and enjoy their jobs. The teachers and staff are complacent in fostering a fun and exciting learning environment and it is very apprarent when attempting to discuss ANY topic related to curriculum, classroom environment, or student behavior. The school environment is managed by a small town mentality, years behind other lower rated schools in other states, with no regard to improving their methods. This years curriculum is a year behind our previous school and the overall curriculum is thought to be first class (please refer to state's national rating above). There is a HUGE disconnect between the principle's expectations and the teacher's performance. It is a poorly funded school and it shows. The kids all look just as miserable as the teachers every-time I have either dropped off or picked up my child. Communication is non-existent for any of the half-planned random events or issues involving your student. Any suggestion or request to increase the level of communication is met with assurances but no delivery. The children are not allowed any room for personal development and are quickly muffled when displaying individuality outside of the rigid structure of the classroom. The children in our class are extremely rude and disrespectful to other children and the teacher is oblivious. Just "earnin" a paycheck. If you have a robot for a child, expect zero communication with the teacher, and don't expect to get involved with their education, this may be a great school for you. We have removed our child from the school and now understand why Alabama has such a great rating compared to the rest of the country. The beach is beautiful but the school has ruined the experience. Move somewhere else!!!

We were promised more teachers. That has not happend. 38 kids in one class is too much for 5th grade. The board can find MACs for the kids but can not find the funds for teachers. There is something seriously wrong here. Parents are moving away from Orange Beach, home schooling, or going to Saint Benedicts because the School Board will not step up to the plate and support our students where they need it. Parents speak up and support your kids!!!!

We love this school! Such a warm and friendly staff. Principal Ellis is outside every morning and afternoon. He greets all the children by name. My daughter absolutely loved Mrs. Smith. She went above and beyond to meet the emotional and academic needs of her students. My only complaint is that school as a whole does not have much in place for gifted children before the 3rd grade.
