Based on our experience in Elementary school I would not recommend this organization due to consist lack of / unclear communication from administration and significant lack of professionalism.

My children are all thriving at DCA. The school continues to improve. They are continually adding more challenging classes & now have dual-enrollment. They have many sports, theatre, and extracurriculars. When I walk into the school, it feels like family. The administrators love Jesus and genuinely care for each student. Highly, highly recommend!

The only thing Christian about this school is the name.   They do not care about your children or try to help them if they are struggling.    If your child is not the brightest of the brightest you better not send your kid to this school.  Also most of their teachers do not even have a teacher's license or are even qualified to teach.

Mediocre education, favoritism between family members, and no educational growth. (ie. scholarships, grants, college recognition)If you don’t care about the education, considering this is normal for schools in this part of Mississippi then the worst part in my opinion, is the fact that they grade Christianity like it is a class. A religion that is extremely complex and even people who have studied their whole life can’t be certain of anything, however CHILDREN are supposed to know every corner of the bible and they can either pass or fail, which to a young impressionable child could interpret as they aren’t a good enough christian. For a christian school they didn’t think this through.

Our experience with this school was very disappointing to say the least. Upon our school tour, we were told there was a no homework policy. Our child was having at least 3 hours every night. We tried inquiring about why there was so much work, no one could help because the office had no clue and the teacher for this class had been changed twice within the first three weeks of school....none of them knew what was going on. My son ended up with a teacher that had no degree teaching his class. The school recommended we medicate our first grader the second week into school. We decided not to take advice from two people that had absolutely no education degrees. Definitely not appropriate recommendation without even referring out for testing. Just crazy. We had another teacher that would take days of recess away from the entire class when one child acted out. Our child in this classroom NEVER got to go outside or was able to get energy out, not to any fault of his own.The icing on the cake was how rude the office staff was...one person in particular. I have never experienced anything so Un-Christian like in my life. We withdrew 3 weeks into school and our only regret is the 3 weeks of our life we wasted at this school.I would like to finish off by saying we did have a few kind teachers that were truly very kind and were trying to make a difference in the children's lives.

We had physical bully problems and over crowding at the public school, we were scared and needed a safe place for our boys to learn and attend school - this is the worst place I have ever taken my kids and I PAID FOR IT....

Glorified daycare. Terrible experience at this school, not so much with the teachers, but with the administration. Here’s what to expect:Your child will be watching movies daily at DCA. NOT learning videos-Power Rangers, Paw Patrol, and full Disney movies. Teachers have Netflix hardwired right to the rooms, and they let the students pick what they watch every day. During snack time, nap time, lunch time, any time that should be used to develop social skills. It’s a babysitter while teachers grade papers. It’s on in the aftercare room with children crowded around it in a dark room, instead of playing outside on a beautiful afternoon. My children would come home bonking themselves on the head after watching LooneyTunes, and got in trouble for copying behavior they’d seen on tv. First thing my kids told me about when they came home each day was what movie they watched. Nothing about math, science, friends…just movies. I paid for this. I called, emailed, wrote a letter to the “board”. NO ONE ever replied. What kind of “Christian” school completely ignores a parent’s concerns? DCA is merely a business.DCA has almost no outdoor time for young children if it’s sunny, between 40-70 degrees, and hasn’t rained in the last 5 days. Absolutely none for older kids. Nothing. Stuck in a tiny room all day long. My children came home restless every day. When asked if they had recess, I heard, “the ground was wet.” Or “My teacher was too cold”. Unbelievable that DCA functions like this. DCA’s motto is “It’s a privilege to go our school.” I disagree. It’s a privilege to teach our children. There are better schools just down the road. Please don’t let this school be your final decision unless your goals include memorizing the theme song from Pokemon.

Wonderful school with well qualified teachers and staff. My daughter has thrived in the environment. They are accredited and pending further accreditation.

DCA is a very unprofessional school. They aren't accredited but will tell you they are. They also use out of date and copied achievement tests for their end of year testing. Public schools and colleges do not recognize DCA as a school at all. To be accepted into a college or another school from DCA, you must take a placement test because they won't even look at report cards from there.

My kids first year here is almost complete! They have done very well and have enjoyed their new school. The teachers have been very helpful to my kids and they seem to really care about them. We will be back next year! - L.W.

We have enjoyed the change from public schools. My kids are less stressed and very happy! They were ready to go back to school in the middle of spring break! I think that says something.

Great experience this school year! My child is having a great year and the transition has been good for him. He actually likes school now!

Both of my children attend school here, and it has been wonderful! The curriculum is outstanding, and they are taught Christian values! Who could ask for more?!?

DeSoto County Academy is one of the best quality places to get a Christian education in North Mississippi. And I've been affiliated with several over the past 20 years. The administration are people of integrity. And the teachers are top notch. Ik very thankful to have one student graduate and head to college and another who will also in a few years. The education, life lessons and ideals my children have learned here will stick with them for the rest of their lives, and it's certainly something they wouldn't get in a public school. I'd put the admin and staff against almost any school in the nation and they'd come out on top.

This school treats their employees with no respect. The admistration is not setting a "Christian Example" by letting the best teachers go with no valid reason. All they would say is the school is headed in a different direction. What kind of Christian example is this setting for our children and non Christian adults? I am appaualed at the way they have let 2 employees go in July. One with a call and one with a text message. How lame! I am very disappointed in this school!!

Desoto County Academy is the worst school I have ever seen. The administration is as fake as they come and they have no clue how to run a school. None of them have education degrees as well as some of the teachers. They have lots of gray areas when it comes to rules and standards. I was extremely disappointed in this school and the way they handle things. There is no sprinkler system in the school at all so that is terrible for if there is a fire. Also teachers are not ever given a break, prep period, etc. They are expected to work all day with no break. It all depends on who you are up there. They play favorites and they do not truly care about people, they only care about making money. We parents pay an "Ancillary Fee" which includes art fee. Elementary students do not have an art teacher, but I guess teachers never see that money because we always get notes asking for $3 here, $5 there. I'm sure the office keeps that money as their bonus. They give Christians a bad name. Also, we had the best teacher last year in 2nd grade. For some unknown reason they let her go. She is the only teacher my daughter has ever had who actually truly cared about her students. She went above and beyond for them and then they get rid of her. Because of this I am pulling all my children out of DCA. I will not stand behind and watch a school system treat an excellent teacher the way they did. Be very aware if you currently have students there.

We have attended the last two school years, and we are registered for another. We love it. I am happy to be in a Christian environment and not have to deal with the common core curriculum issues or anything else that could occur in a public school setting. I feel safer with my children here. I hold no judgment to those that choose public school, but for me this is the best decision for our family. Every family has to do what they feel is best. I hope that both of my kids can graduate from DCA one day! Thanks DCA and keep up the great work!!!!

Our children have been attending for the 15 - 16 school year and thus far we have been pleased with the experience. The after school care is great for 2 working parents. The school does not provide lunch or snacks, which in the long run creates an added expense. Also, the outside of the school does not resemble a traditional school building. However, if you are looking for a non-common core Christian learning environment, this is your best value in Desoto County. Teachers are great and really care about the kids.

DCA couldn't have predicted the growth they have experienced this past year, and like with any change, there is a transition period! They have made renovations and added portables for the upcoming school year. One of the areas that hasn't changed is their love for our children! We'd chose DCA all over again for that very reason! The curriculum is great, and our kids are learning by leaps and bounds (scoring well above their grade level on the latest achievement tests).

First year here and all has been well. My son seems to be doing well with their curriculum. (9th grade)
