Great program and very dedicated teachers. Small student/ teacher ratio. Lots of activities. I know my kids are getting a great education.

Terrible. Unorganized and communication is so bad for such a small school. They promise customized and challenging education but my son was in 1st grade doing kindergarten work. Glad we are out of this school. Poor leadership that comes from the top.

This is a terrific school! The entire environment is dedicated to the kids' education and well being, and I know from experience that that is actually pretty rare. I send happy kids to Oak Crest in the morning and at the end of the day I get back happy kids who learned something new and want to share it with me. It's a great atmosphere because it's staffed by people who just really want to see your kids thrive and grow strong. Even if your child is not gifted, I would recommend checking out Oak Crest Academy. Their teaching style, small class sizes and happy atmosphere will be a benefit to any kid.

I only wish that more people knew of this school. I have sent my children to this school for many years and it is definitely a find. They are a highly inclusive school, and possess a complete regard for the personal development of each and every student. Here I did not not find a focus on merely state testing and subsequent school funding. This school's staff is very ambitious for the success of their individual pupils. This said, it is catered to students and families that understand that what they want for their families. Each child, as we are all individuals, is directed as leaders, and encouraged to know that they are not a small snapshot as part off an existing educational collage. As a newer, growing school I've found them to be diligent in terms of self-evaluation and analysis with clear blueprints for advancement and change when required. This school also is demonstrative that disadvantage need not be a barrier to achievement. I can personally attest to this. I have a relentless focus on evolving with the current changes in the educational and social environment. I found this similarity in Oak Crest Academy. Within Oak Crest Academy I found a strong objective of teaching the individual where they CURRENTLY are at any personal, financial and emotional, AND educational point. I was most impressed with their abilities of support and intervention in cases of issue. "They develop individual students through promoting rich opportunities for learning both within and out of the classroom."Despite previous school settings, my children are thriving and 2 of my children are taking simultaneous college classes with A GPAs. If you are a parent that wants to invest along with your child in their future, this is the school for you.

My two children attend this school, and we are thrilled with their progress. Our kids have blossomed here. Our experience does not bear any resemblance to the situation described by the December 26th poster. Knowing some of the facts behind the more negative allegations, I have to conclude that the poster has a personal axe to grind. Our children previously attended a highly reputable and academically rigorous private international school. However, both were bored by the constant repetition and stifled by the traditional classroom environment. Over time, our exuberant, intellectually curious and happy children became withdrawn, started to under perform and 'hated' going to school. After an exhaustive search, we found and chose Oak Crest Academy, and the change and growth in both children has been simply outstanding. We have found the instruction and individualized approach to be excellent. Both children are studying materials and developing critical thinking skills that are several grades above their 'actual' grades. Like many gifted learners, my children had some asynchronous development. This has been addressed with skill and sensitivity with great effect. The teachers are exceptional, enthusiastic, caring and committed to their students. In our case, they have gone above and beyond to challenge our children, meet them where they are and teach them in ways that are meaningful and impactful to them as individuals. Our kids LOVE going to school, and our previously withdrawn and disengaged learners have become passionate, confident, articulate, happy and autonomous.Have there been staffing changes? Yes. But that can be said of every school, everywhere. As for the changes to the head of school, I can say emphatically that losing this person was a gain for Oak Crest. This person was not only an extremely poor fit , but was also completely incompetent. Yes, a beloved teacher chose to leave last year, but the circumstances weren't at all as described here.Sadly, the Dec 26th post contained numerous half-truths and malicious falsehoods that seem intended to damage the school in general and its founder in particular. This is truly regrettably as this is an excellent school in every respect. My only regret is that we didn't find it sooner. Visit the school and decide for yourself...this negative post does not accurately reflect reality.

As the parents of a gifted child the most important thing was to find a school that cared about their students. Cared enough to have challenging, exceptional curriculum. Highly qualified teachers who care and are passionate about teaching. A faculty who cares about nurturing and preparing our children for the future both academically and emotionally. Oak Crest Academy is that school! It is a school devoted to its students! Our daughter is enjoying her 2nd year at OCA and we are grateful and thrilled to be a part of Oak Crest Academy!!

Oak Crest Academy is a wonderful school. Our son came here mid year into second grade. His previous school left him feeling frustrated and unchallenged. He used to wake up every morning dreading school. Since starting Oak Crest Academy last month he has come home every day happy and excited to tell us all the amazing things he learned that day. The teachers and staff are warm and kind and make the children feel important and involved. We are extremely pleased with our decision to move our son to this school.

We love this gem of a school so much that we have enrolled both of our children here. One is now in second grade; the other is in seventh grade; and this is their second year at this school. If I were to state briefly what we have gained by joining OCA, I would say "less stress, more learning." In this small environment, with wonderful teachers, fewer distractions, and no mindless work, our children can hear themselves think and are able to work at much higher levels than their grades. Knowledge is not doled out by the teaspoon - they are allowed to go as far and as deep as they are able. For both our children, going to school is a joy every day; sitting math tests is a welcome challenge; history is fascinating; science class is an absolute delight. Afternoon electives are a lot of fun, too, exposing children to a wide range of subjects: drama, cooking, chess, landscape painting, yoga, mock trials, Odyssey of the Mind, etc. etc. Needless to say, we are very lucky to have found this school!

We drive 100 miles every day (two roundtrips at 25 miles each way) so that our son can attend this wonderful school. We searched for three years before finally finding Oak Crest, which is now fully accredited with the highest possible score. The only thing wrong with it is that it is not closer to us!The curriculum is perfect for a child who needs to go deeper and is excited by learning. My son particularly loves History class and Latin class! The teachers -- who are all experts in their fields -- are so thoughtful in how they teach, how they interact with students, and how they facilitate the students' interactions with each other. Other things we like are: Engaging after-school classes are offered at reasonable rates. The administration takes the opinions of parents and the student body very seriously and is extremely responsive in every way. The children are encouraged to think for themselves and follow through on ideas they come up with, such as planning fundraisers and writing their own holiday play!My son looks forward to school every day, comes home (after a long drive) energized and excited about what he has learned, and has become more independent and mature in the few months he has been attending OCA.
