Great teachers, great PTA. This school is wonderful in so many ways. My kid is learning so much every single day. She is receiving a better education here than she was a nearby private school. So glad to have made the switch. The parents at the school are highly involved and it’s a great community.

Lynwood is a gem. When we moved into the neighborhood, we did not think to even consider the school due to the low testing scores. After hearing such wonderful things about the school from my community throughout Novato, I finally went for a tour. After the tour, I didn’t need to tour any other school. I was set on Lynnwood, first of all the facilities are all renovated and the school is absolutely beautiful. The principal is incredible, very highly educated, and you can sense a true passion for the work she does. My kid is in TK and already coming home singing in Spanish, her class seems to be about 60% , non-Spanish-speaking and 40% Spanish-speaking. The testing scores seem to be low because testing is done in English and a substantial percentage of the school is Spanish-speaking only. The school also has an incredibly highly involved PTA, there are events on a regular basis, and it has just been an incredibly welcoming and caring experience for us joining the school. I have a few friends that have transferred in from other districts and they are also so happy. One mom Said to me “I feel like I won the lottery with this school”. If you have any concerns of hesitations, reach out for a tour and prepare to be impressed!

My child loves this school as do I, learning two languages at this age is awesome , the principal is very knowledgeable and really cares about her students.

This review compares my observations of Lynwood, Rancho and Pleasant Valley 2014 tours my daughter will enter K in 2015. Overall, I liked the Lynnwood school and principal, and I felt the students we saw enjoyed their learning opportunity and collaborating together. I feel Lynwood has a great program that is challenged (in terms of test scores) by the high # of ESL learners but that anyone going to Lynwood has the opportunity for a great education, just like Rancho and PV. 1. Lynnwood successfully seeks grants to add enrichment opportunities and resources for Lynwood. Both TK/K classes at Lynwood have full time bi-lingual teachers aids. Rancho and PV rely on parent volunteers to support teachers. 2) the class sizes are small -21-22 students at Lynwood, versus higher at Rancho and significantly higher at PV (>25 in Kindergarten). 3) on the tour, the principal was very respectful to the students and the students were very respectful to him as they moved to the cafeteria for snack. The children in all the rooms we observed worked well together, just like at Rancho and PV. 4) the classrooms are spacious with beautiful windows and outdoor views, particularly in the K rooms.

Our daughter just started 1st grade at Lynwood and it's a wonderful little neighborhood school. The principal is very accessible and hands-on and the teachers are warm and caring. We're looking forward to a great year!

I have found Lynwood to be very bias in grading. My child was always being accused of doing things perpetrated by other students. The principle is always clueless and has a way of acting like he is making things happen for students with certain needs. Lynwood doesn't have any tools to assist in cultural diversity. They only focus on about two cultures avoiding discussion in the other culturs they have. One teacher always complained about being there at the school when we conversed.

Best school I've ever attended. The GATE class was the greatest experience of my life, and it's benefited me as a person in imeasurable ways. The advanced class was placed there to boost the tests scores of the school, which can lead to the assumption that it's a poor learning environment, but that is not the case. I learned more in those 2 years than I had in other elementary schools for 4. I loved it.

My son is in this school for the past 2 yrs, and i have little to complain about the academics, but have few issues with his last yr teacher, she didn't treat all kids equally, she showed partiality in giving grades and silly tigerific cards, thank god, my son is with a different teacher this yr, and till now she has been wonderful.

Horrible school, do not send your kids here. There are a handful of great teachers but it is not worth the trade off. Scores are marginal, look at the AYP breakdown, a few students bolster the scores to reach minimum standards. Current principal/school leadership and parent involvment are sub par. Classes are severely imbalanced. There is a reason many families do not attend this school even if it is closer to their homes.

Lynwood was a great neighborhood school for both of my sons. They both tested and got into the 4th/5th grade GATE program which is for gifted students. We could not have been happier with the teachers we got. I loved the diversity my boys experienced. Lots of great parents as well. Did tons of volunteering, a bit too much. Many parents that have students there are too busy working or too busy at their "home schools" to help. If you move over for the GATE, plan to help! Otherwise, a few hard working parents will be doing it all.

As a former student of both of the two GATE teachers at Lynwood I think that they are awesome. They are two of the best teachers I have ever had. I learned so much from them. If anybody has the opportunity to be in the Lynwood gate program they should deffinetly take it.
