It is a very good school. Although it is smaller than other schools, it helps the students to get to know each other well. They have really good teachers who prepares the students for high school. My kid loved the entire middle school journey. The school offers accelerated programs and has an award winning music and band programs.

DO NOT GO TO FIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL! If you are able to go to a private school - do so. If not, move into a different district. Not safe, extreme bullying w/documentation and NOTHING done. Gang presence, students are in charge, and pure chaos in the classrooms. Teachers (not all) are subpar at best. No protection in classrooms either Faculty and staff are afraid of the parents and do not like confrontation. The school is too small and should be closed. Please, please do your research and see for yourself.

My sister was bullied because she’s black. Racist comments made by students and nothing was done.

Stellar staff! Our children started out in district 31 but an extended construction project forced us to temporarily relocate to district 34. While we loved the resources in 34, we had to concede that district 31 did wonders for the children, socially, emotionally and academically. District 31 is a smaller district with a close knit group of professionals who have truly vested time and interest in getting to know your children well individually. We moved back in late 2014 and couldn't be happier. Both Winkleman and Field have made great waves in educating their students despite not having the funds of neighboring districts; proof that the best resource are the people that work and live there.
