Teaches children to be incredible human beings. Wonderful education and amazing community for our whole family.

I have a current first grader and am so pleased with her experience at Schechter over the last (almost) two years. We only moved to the area a few years ago, but felt immediately at home when we walked in the doors... As an educator myself, I have very high standards when it comes to academics and social/emotional learning, and time and again, I am continually impressed by the overall education my daughter is receiving. Schechter truly nurtures the whole child. If you're looking for a personalized, values-oriented foundation for your child, look no further.

We wanted more than just a wonderful education for our kids, we wanted a warm and welcoming Jewish community. That is exactly what we have found at Schechter. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to meet the individual needs of each child. We have made friendships here that we know will be life long. Schechter has been the best decision we have made for our children.

I’ve thought long and hard whether to write a review. This school used to be wonderful and my kids love attending because the teachers are mostly so attentive and encouraging. BUT- in the past several years it has been awful. The head of school runs this place like an authoritarian. There is no input from the parents into how the school is run. Head of school employs a “divide and conquer” approach where parents who question anything are separated from others who might have the same questions or concerns, and she has a band of school alumni and big donors who help her accomplish this. The PTA has no function except ordering school supplies. If you are evaluating this school for its Jewish content, look elsewhere, since Learning Any Jewish values or prayers is long gone. They will tell you otherwise, and they may have the market cornered in Northbrook. If you essentially want your children to attend an elite “Northshore” private school with a Jewish name, and you are a yoga-pants wearing type who wants in on the clique of mean moms, you and your kids will fit right in. I know it is easy to write an anonymous review, and it speaks volumes that I am genuinely afraid to write this in a place I will be identified, because my children still attend. But I wanted to get this published while the admissions season is ongoing, for those considering.

It says submitted by a parent, I am a student. I hope my review helped. By the way I'm in 6th grade, and my writing is only babyish because I'm tired.

Hey I am a student at this school. I think it's pretty average. Like all schools there are kids to avoid. I love the teachers but the substitute teachers are just mean. One of them is like 87 and doesn't speak english, another pushed my brother and he was out of the room for 25 minutes and she didn't even notice, another one rearranged the desks without permission. The administration and staff is mixed. The not required subjects are really good. The praying session is just horrible. The teachers give us little prayer books, so small that we cant see the print and yell at us to pray. Tell them "Gabi" sent you.
