My son left North Charleston Creative Arts with an outstanding record of behavior, leadership, and more. He stayed with his father for a school term at this school , and his performance declined from there. There is a significant difference between the two schools in terms of academics and the approach of teachers and students. As a parent, I place my trust in teachers to be open and honest. However, I have caught one teacher in a lie based on what was initially said and observed attempts to reframe the situation when I requested more information about the incident. Which lead it to my next conclusion, moving forward throughout the school year.2 Incident: One day, when I went to pick up my son from school, the administrator at the front desk immediately assumed he was cutting class because she hadn't received a response from the teacher. When the teacher eventually responded, it turned out my son had been in class the entire time. There are many more incidents, but I can summit up in this way.Automatically identifying children based on their appearance raises significant concerns about bias and inequality. Although it’s understandable that the environment might influence these perceptions, categorizing children solely based on how they look can reinforce stereotypes and create a sense of exclusion. Such practices can negatively impact students’ self-esteem and perpetuate divisions among them. It’s crucial for schools to recognize each student’s individuality and avoid making assumptions based on appearance, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for all.Over all, choose the right school for your children. The right school can make a big difference in a child’s development. Factors like the school’s environment, the quality of its teachers, and the effectiveness of its administrators all contribute to a child’s learning experience and growth. Choosing a school that aligns with your child’s needs and values can set a strong foundation for their academic and personal success. My son future matters.School placements matters.

This school isn’t the best. Bullying and fights happens a lot.

Sometimes I feel like my child is attending college and not middle school here. If my child is having issues I should not see it on their report card/ progress report tell me prior so that I can help them. Now that I know and stay up on my child they have issues with me being around. One teacher told my child stop coming to me. So if my child can't come to me who can they go to? Can't pop up in class they have to call the teacher in advance to let him/her know you coming. Why? Are they doing something wrong? Want to meet with a teacher you have to schedule a meeting which takes days and when you finally have a meeting more than one person shows up. I think that is wrong. I feel as if i should know who is attending and why. If I go through this to better my child. What do you think my child is going through.

I love this school! All like everything from there! Great teachers, electives, social, etc. The only good thing about lunch is that you can buy extras such as candy, chips, icecream, etc. But this school is great! People should come here.

We are new to S.C. and new to River Oaks. My child is very happy there and so are we. My child has seen no signs of bullying, at least in her grade. There are bullies in every school. It is how you teach your children to deal with it and how you as a parent deal with it. The one issue that I would address is the fact that there are children in the class that seem to cause a disturbance on a regular basis and they are sent out of class and no further punishment is pursued especially with repeat offenders. Parents always are looking for the schools and teachers to fix their children and their issues. It is time for paretns to take responsibility for THEIR children. I feel that RIver Oaks is a very good sc and I am happy with it.

I love ROMS. I have been teaching there for three years and love my students. I wish there was more parent involvement. Middle school is difficult and when parents back off at this age it makes it more difficult for the teachers.
