This school is nothing but a check the box school they can care less of children’s safety or education they don’t notice when kids stop coming do to safety concerns and they say they will help but only punish the kids trying to do the right thing multiple administrators have failed this school and when your having kids coming to you saying there is a problem and you don’t involve the parents before the issue gets more involved. Just big time unsafe with fighting happening with multiple students on the daily.

It's okay with learning but the respect is just horrible and nasty. I didn't know how rude and disrespectful people can truely be.

It is very fun and a good learning experience. There are a few minor problems but they are being resolved. This is the only middle school I went to and I couldn't imagine going to any other.

Middle school is the worst no matter where you go. Bullying occurs in all schools, especially middle school. Parent involvement in ALL aspects is VITAL in middle school. I saw many of my daughters friends take the wrong path in middle school. And it was almost always due to lack of parental involvement. My son was bullied his 6th grade year. It was dealt with very effectively by not only the Principal but Guidance Counselors as well. His 7th grade year was difficult academically. This year (8th grade) so far as been wonderful!!! My child has never enjoyed school this much. With all of the resources available today to parents, YOU should know how your child is doing in school. YOU should know what work is being done and what is not. YOU should know if your child is failing. If your child is failing, find extra help. There is plenty available online. Teachers only have so much time to teach. The reinforcement should occur at home. AND teachers can only teach a child that WANTS to learn. All of my child's teachers have been absolutely wonderful, caring, and knowledgeable. Some of the front office staff can be a little rude sometimes. But overall, this has been a wonderful school!

The 7th grade teachers are good, though the classrooms are a bit out of control from what I am hearing. The communication is good from the teachers. The problem is that the kids are so rambunctious that my son has been hurt four times on the playground. They are allowed to play tackle football, very rough basketball whereas they push, shove and elbow, and their new thing is to pick people up by their ankles and drop them backwards on the pavement. In gym, the gym teacher out two sets of kids with rackets on the same net because of low inventory of nets (she said)and one of the kids smashed my son in the eye, giving him nerve damage and was sent to the nurse alone. He had a head injury and fell to the ground and she never even asked how he was when he came back to school. I have called and spoken in great lengths with the v.p and she assured me that she would make sure the teachers on the playground monitor the kids and their actions and nothing has been done about it. They received a safety award for getting the kids to school , but what about the safety of the kids AT school. With all of what i have just written and the number of fights at the school, we have decided to take our son out of Oakbrook Middle School. If you are relocating, please chose your middle school appropriately.

I love how the school is friendly. I feel the staff has went above and beyond for my son. They have changed the way he feels about school. The only change I wish Oakbrook would make is to add a class with in a class for the children with learning disabilities.

First and foremost, middle school is a crazy place no matter where you're at. This school has a great principal and staff who try their best to run a smooth school system while putting the best interest of the students first. They really do try to nip bullying in the bud, but they have to be made aware of situations in order to do so. As a parent, I find comfort in the presence of the resource officer assigned to the school.

Sweet and sour. That's how I view the school personnel here. Very good teachers for the most part, especially considering their low pay! But beware of some of the support staff. Rude, angry, selfish and dishonest individuals lurk among those working hard to keep their integrity and jobs! Kids are kept busy and they have great music and art departments. But if you're expecting your child to be treated like anything than just a number, you will be in for a surprise. As long as you get in, sit down, shut up and don't question the employees and ignore their mistakes, well then you'll feel like you've died and gone to heaven.

I think some of these parents need to start accepting the responsibilty of how their children behave. Blaming others does not get results. Accept that perhaps you should get more involved and perhaps teach your child to not blame others for their lack of performance. I am so excited for my child to continue at this school. Great teachers are here, but great kids are the result of great parents and perhaps this school needs better parents.

This School Is THE WORST SCHOOL EVER If Your a parent I would recommend you pay that 900 dollars for private school!!! People have to fight to be "popular" in that school. I was bullied all through my 6th grade year. When I got in 7th grade I was FORCED to fight on the bus while the bus driver just drove and didn't move an inch. I got suspended for 5 days and removed from the bus for 2 weeks! I am now a freshmen at Ashley Ridge and hoping every thing gets better. I didnt forget to tell you about my 8th grade year either!! IT SUCKED!! We Didn't have a prom or get a certificate of completion!! Just save up 900 dollars and get your child in private school!!!!!

My son was an honor roll sudent at OES, he is now about to fail 7th grade, he only just passed 6th grade.I`ve had parent teacher conferences but the teachers don`t stick to what they say they are going to do to help. My son has also been bullied numerous times by various students, although suprisingly most of the bullying comes from his history teacher who enjoys verbally abusing him. Overall, I would love to get my child out of this school, it is ruining his education.

This school has a terrible problem with bullies. I wish I had never put my son in this school. I feel like the bullying problem is taken lightly and nothing is done to correct it. Also, they refuse to give my son, who is ADHD, a 504. He is entitled to that by law.

I am in the the same boat as the other parent that HAD a consecutive honor roll student at risk of failing this year. These teachers have no regard for their student's progress as not one teacher has tried to reach me concerning his grades. May I add my son maintained honor roll status in school in Ohio whose academic status is ranked 6th in the states!!! The teachers are quick to blame parents for their lack of competency in preparing these students for high school. My son has constantly been bullied since we moved here, We will be moving back to Ohio so my kids can get out of this ghettofied school system who obviously doesn't give about their students.Oh & the online system. A joke. I submitted my email address 2 months ago to have his daily assignments sent to me and no reply!!!
