3 years in the High School has been a horrible experience. Lack of organization and communication makes it extremely difficult for students & families. Staff lacks ability to respond to concerns in a reasonable & timely manner. Fortunately, because of her own efforts, our daughter will graduate as one of the top of her class despite all of these immense challenges within ORVA. Would not recommend this HS to anyone. We are homeschooling our 9th grader rather than putting up with this chaotic school for 4 more years.

My child started with ORVA back in 8th grade, he is now in 11th. The school was great when we first started, but the last year has been difficult. Teacher changes, website changes that made it hard to find assignments and due dates. He has had 3 advisors in the last year. Teachers take a long time to respond. The head of school left mid year and now the principal is leaving. Not sure why the huge turnover of administration and teachers. We are looking elsewhere.

I love our school. It has been so nice to work at our own pace. We have been able to get caught up where it has been needed and to excel in subjects that are interesting for my student. The staff is wonderful to work with and very personable. The get togethers and field trips are a great way to get to know the other parents and for the students to interact with each other. The school is always learning and growing, and all children have the same opportunity to learn with ORVA. I love the freedom with ORVA to be ourselves.

Highschool teachers are fantastic!!!! Very supportive and, although it is hard, it is very worthwhile.

The teachers are absolutely amazing in this program. They provide so much support and respond to any emails so quickly, I rarely need to send a follow up email. My favorite subject with ORVA is the history course, so amazing!

Although, getting the hang of how to "teach" my kids, (I have one in 2nd, and a kindergartner), balance my life between my two other little ones, and everything else in life, this has been great for my family. The school itself is A-mazing! The teachers are so supportive and are easily reachable through e-mail or phone. I have never seen such commitment, and I never figured it could be achieved through a virtual stand point. ORVA has great resources in all areas of life, not just school, there are support groups for every kind of family background and environment. And the curriculum seems to be great and the lessons provided allow me to really make sure that my child understands each one before just "moving on". The teachers call every month to see how were doing. This has been the best decision even if it has been the most difficult thing I have ever done. ORVA also has created a great IEP and team for my son who also needs speech, as well as other academic assistance. ORVA should be acknowledged for its dedication to its achievements through student success and also its commitment to pushing the limits on academics in a virtual environment.

My two daughters have been attending Oregon Virtual Academy for 3 years. This has been the best thing I've ever done for my girls. They have gotten better grades and like school more. And love being able to talk and email there teachers when ever they needed. Just to give you a in site on how much Oregon Virtual Academy care about there students. My Daughter who is a senior did not pass her Math Oakes test by one point so she needed to retake it so she can graduate. They actually sent the principal to our location which is over 5 hours for him to retest her. She was the only one testing that day also. Thanks Oregon Virtual Academy for going beyond and above to make a better choice for my kids.

My 2nd grade daughter has been with ORVA since Kindergarten, and she loves it! We love the schedule flexibility, which allows us to do extracurricular activities like ballet, karate, 4-H, and swimming. The best part of the curriculum is history, science, art, music & foreign language classes, which aren't offered in many of our local schools due to large class sizes/budget restrictions.

My children have been with ORVA for almost 5 years. There's so many things we like about ORVA as a family. My kids love that they have more social time and more time for playing sports and ballet without the stress of trying to figure out how to get homework done since they are able to see their class calendar and work ahead as needed. My kids have study groups with other kids in ORVA and I've seen their educations improve tremendously since we switched to ORVA. We love ORVA. We love the curriculum. It's perfect for us.

ORVA saved my son and we would have been lost without them! Five years ago my son was bullied to the point he threatened suicide at our local brick and mortar school. I pulled him out and quit my job to homeschool him full time. We had no idea where to begin. Everything from our enrollment to the tradition into the classroom was incredible, I felt more supported in my son's education than ever before! My son is now in 8th grade and is thriving educationally and socially, having meet his best friend through an ORventure (once a month outings for the kids). I'm so grateful to have this option and to see the good it has done for my son and many other children!

This is a great alternative to a brick and mortar school! I love the interaction with my child's teacher. It is very challenging, but the opportunity to be involved in my child's education is priceless. The curriculum is very good for all different types of learners. It truly is the best of both worlds as this is a highly structured curriculum with grades, learning goals, interaction with peers and teachers, but as the learning coach, I have the opportunity to structure the day around our family life and instill our values alongside.

In less than one year, with ORVA and his grandmother's help, my son made amazing progress from "does not meet" to "meets" in writing and math. He's happier, we fight less and he's regaining his confidence! ORVA allows the flexibility in each subject that other online programs didn't and a great balance between online and offline work. Being a learning coach is a huge responsibility and the supports are there every step of the way. Learning becomes interesting for both the student and the coach!

I love ORVA. The teachers are great and supportive! The curriculum is very well put together. I like the fact that you can test ahead and get to a level that is challenging for your child but can also stay at spot that the child is struggling with until he understands it before you move on. I recommend this school to everyone I know that has children or grandchildren in school.

We switched from a brick and mortar school in 2013. My younger son was extremely bored in school and the school wouldn't challenge him. He loves ORVA and is being challenged. My older son was struggling with a few things and is doing well with the one and one. The teachers are awesome and we love the Orventures.

My daughter has flurished within ORVA over the past 3 years. She went from not knowing what she was being taught in a B&M school to being in the top 99% nationally. She is only a 3rd grader. She loves ORVA and does not want to go back to a regular public school.

We have been an ORVA family for 5 years and plan on at least 5 more. ORVA is public school at home. It fits our family's needs perfectly and my son wants to continue through graduation. It is not for everyone but it is certainly for us!

I love that we have much more flexibility than a traditional b&m school offers. Staff is very helpful resolving any & all issues/questions. Materials are quality & easy to use.

This school is made a difference in my child's life. He finally enjoys doing the school work and really like the morning class sessions. When we started this school we knew we were going to get text books in the mail but we were shocked when two very large boxes showed up. We not only received text books but also art supplies, science supplies, reading books, and much more. They really did set up my house for a full classroom. I now don't have to worry that my son will miss out. I recommend this program all the time. We have a student who works at his own pace and in some areas that is super fast and in others its a bit slower. We have been able to set our pace with every subject and now he is thriving. I really enjoy the program because I am included in the teaching without having to come up with my own lesson plan.

We love this program. We have had some difficulties but we found a schedule that works for us and truly enjoy what our son is learning.

I am a grandmother learning coach responsible (with help) for a 14 year old with ADHD. It doesn't mean he is not as smart as the next, but slower. If his goal is to climb a tree lots of students just go for it and get to the top. Mine goes for it, but stops at every branch to look around and absorb the scenery and probably tell you about it in detail! He gets to the top but who has gotten more out of the assignment? Homeschool lets us have the structured guidance and professional support but ability to flex with the student. Oregon K-12 has made it possible. Now is the process always smooth and perfect? Nope, we have computer glitches, and teacher glitches, and subject glitches but they are glitches you can work on to correct or fix. We have direct input and my student is the total focus!!
