I left the school of my dreams to come here. There is less than 100 black students. It’s very racially divided. The teachers have favorites most of the time and single out the minorities. They move at a very fast pace with curriculum.

Interesting on how the "Equity" ratings play here. Not too sure what Great Schools is trying to accomplish...but anyway. Northgate is an excellent school. Not only the college readiness programs which are 1st class, but the commitment back to kids who do not want to attend college. The offerings for Trade development and skillset building at CEC is what all other PUBLIC schools should be doing. Keeping the students on the forefront. Stay True Northgate because in a time when Leadership and teachers are out for themselves teaching pure hate, you have become the exception and not the norm.

It has been awful. My child sits alone. No one cares about her. The IEP team is useless. She is dying inside. I am going to pull her for homeschool soon because no one is helping her. The other kids are all rich and spoiled. Because she is not an athlete and is a special education student, she is invisible. The special education department is useless.

The school has always been relatively supportive of me as a transgender student, and while I have caught wind of bullying behind my back, it has never been a significant issue. Most teachers have been kind, and the one's who weren't at least kept things civil and respectful.

THESE PEOPLE COMPLAINTS SAIDS IT ALL ... BULLING IS A NO NO I DON'T CARE IF HE IS NUMBER ONE PLAYER IN ANY SPORT. AND SOME OF THESE TEACHERS ARE CLUELESS. SOME JUST SHOW UP FOR A CHECK I CAN DO THAT .. THANKS THATS ALL

My son was at another school and had been doing poorly. He went to Northgate and it changed him around completely. The teachers were always available before and after school to tutor and mentor my son. Mrs. Harper who was his counselor was amazing and we owe a debt of gratitude to the staff who so wonderfully encouraged my son. He is in college and is presently applying for graduate school. This is something we had hoped and prayed for and his teachers are all to be commended for my son's success. Through their patience and time they transformed him and my husband and I are eternally grateful ! As far as football and sports, as important as that may be to some, him exceeding academically was our priority.

We moved to Sharpsburg last year and sincerely regret our Northgate decision. 1st - The block system is hard for kids because after 95 minutes, they are burnt out of a subject. My child is taking a rigorous schedule, with AP and advanced classes; they don't have room for the electives that a block schedule provides because most AP classes are still year round. But the long classes for 14 - 18 yr olds are my biggest concern about the block schedule. 2nd - The administration is no help and rude. No one is friendly or happy to help; I asked for a new class for my child one week before school started, my reply was short and curt - "It's not possible" there is absolutely no rearranging your class schedule, I was very disappointed in the counselor's unhelpful attitude, even an "I'm sorry, but - any reason" would have been nice." (I still don't know why.) 3rd - kids are practically locked in the lunchroom before school and during lunch. They need a note from the teacher the day before in order to go to a math room for help. They are treated like elementary kids, not like college bound students. 4th- no school spirit.

I would have to disagree with the last poster. Of the three high schools in the county, this is the most academically challenging school. The football team is not anything to brag about, but since my child does not plan on being a professional football player, that doesn't bother me. There are other teams at the school that are excellent including soccer, track, baseball, etc. The school also has many A.P. classes, excellent foreign language teachers and high academic standards all around. My concern with all of the Coweta County high schools is the block system. In schools where students have 180 days of teaching in a subject, they are doing better than those who only get 90 days per subject - even if the class hours are longer per day.

Of the three schools in the county, this is the worst. Read some comments below and feel the same about principle and football coaches. You can find the head football coach sleeping in his office or degrading kids behind their back. Principle letting it ride since coach retires in a couple of years. Meanwhile, the students pay the price. School has no pride and has regressed of the past few years. Academics are average at best and boys programs are way below average. At of this school in a year but regret putting my son there.

My son graduates this year but wish he could have attended another HS. Football program has been destroyed by principle and coaching staff. Sad to see a program that was once built by prior leadership be ruined. Do not believe this school preps kids for college.

I moved to Northgate my 9th grade year, I went from one extreme to the next.. I came from a country background where drama and bulling barley existed. When i moved to Northgate, i wasn't there 3 weeks and i was coming home crying to my mom, wanting to leave the school. This school does not care about student success, they only care about their image. If your not a star athlete, they don't care about you. If you are, you can get away with anything. All in all, i don't hate this school cause there are some great teachers who do care, but i do not like the school in general.

I am a graduate of Northgate from 2009. I had a wonderful experience as a student. I can truly say that the teachers in this school have changed my life in a very positive way. The teachers and staff care about the success of their students. Even after graduating I have kept in touch with a few of my teachers. The principal really cares about the success and safety of the students. I have loved my experience here at Northgate!

Extremely poorly managed school. A lot of bullying happens in this establishment. Beware of principles & police officers as they are only there to maintain the reputation of the school and will cover up/dispose of any detrimental activities that may affect the schools image. I may have been a student there but I can assure you I have never had a track record of bullying/grades. Hopefully this is of some use to anyone looking to enroll their child in the school. Unless your child is an A+ student or an amazing athlete this school will chew them up and spit them out. Unfortunately, I personally suffer from depression as a consequence of spending 2 years at this school. Please do not judge this book by its cover!!!
