The staff and faculty at NMS are fantastic, especially Dr Fox. Considerate, caring, engaged, encouraging, accountable, dependable are all adjectives that come to mind. My child has some slight learning issues, but has never fallen through the cracks or not received the help needed. Do I always agree with how or why things are done? No, but the communication has always been open, respectful, and available for negotiation or an alternate course of action. Good people, doing good work.

The middle school has several things in place to help students who are in jeopardy. We have 'check and connect' -a mentor program, we have weekly team meetings to check for failing grades, we have the online grade monitoring system for parents, and we have progress reports sent home every 3 weeks all year long. The way I see it, parents think they can send their kids here and the teachers will do it all. Well, wake up and smell the coffee. You have to make your child do homework, read their books, and get sleep before they come back in. If you saw the kids we see flunking because they stay up all night playing video games, are enrolled in 2 or more sports or activities, and don't read a word outside these doors, it wouldn't surprise you that some fail. The school employs teachers, not God.
