My son started 3rd grade at this school, and we are happy with how things are going. Teachers are very supportive, my son's progress is astonishing, and he loves going to school. So far, we did not encounter any problems with bullying or kids not being nice to each other; if it changes, I will update my review, but so far, no problems at all.

I had more than 1 child attend this school. Some observations:1) I agree with the other comments that the school teaches to The Test. It is an obsession. They put too much pressure on the kids about it.2) I know the school is rated very high, but someone needs to realize the soul of a school isn't only driven by test results.3) Too many parents trying too hard to give their kid advantages at the expense of other kids. See next point.4) Too many "moms" that are "volunteering" on almost a daily basis is sometimes unhealthy. Too many clicks, as someone else commented. Reminds me of high school.5) I was very unimpressed how the school handled a recurring bullying problem. 6) I'm still shocked at some of the x-rated things one of my children learned from (some) of the other kids. The school is only responsible because they couldn't / didn't stop it. Some parents in Murphy need to restrict internet access at home. After experiencing the elementary, middle and high school in the area my overall impression is that all three levels of schools have too many kids and not enough adults to monitor the bad behaviors nor give some special attention where needed. Of course if you have rock star kids I'm sure they will do just fine.Glad my family moved....

We have three kids that have attended Boggess for the last 7 years. Two are still attending. Yes there has been teacher turnover and a new principal, but the school is still fantastic. We would recommend this school to anyone looking for a great school with great parents and great teachers. I wouldn't want my kids attending any other school in Murphy.

We have found our time at Boggess to be enjoyable and rewarding. In addtion to academics the school offers Art, Music, and Library once a week and PE/Fitness twice a week at all grade levels. We moved from a school district and state where none of the above is offered. Library time is not just going and looking at a book, the Librarian teaches about types of literature, how to find books in a library, how to conduct research using Library resources, etc. The PTA sponsors after school activities for those families interested; Chess, Drama Kids, Science, etc. There are plenty of opportunities for parent involvement. From our experience each students needs are taken into individual account. If there is a concern that my childs needs are not being met the teachers have been more than happy to discuss. I enter the school on many occasions quite early to help out, I often help with things after school, I frequently see teachers in early and staying late to work with students who need some extra time. I call this dedication. There is a strong emphasis on the teaching of respect, respect for self and for others. I find this to be the basis of the discipline philosophy

Boggess is fantastic! We are in our last year this year and will miss the teachers, the office team and all the wonderful parents that volunteer everyday. What a a great experience for the kids! There is a statewide focus on "teaching to the test" - this school is no different than any other blue ribbon or exemplary school. They do a very nice job of managing different personalities and talents. We were lucky to end up in this school district!
