It is a great school. The teachers are engaged and friendly. The school is safe and welcoming and my kids have flourished there over the past 5 years. A great school

Section Elementary, This is my 15th consecutive year with kids in Section. Congrats to the parents that only had their kids in there for a couple of years. I think Section is a pit. The problems begin with the Principal. His main concern is looking important. He has sure failed to ensure the teachers do not bully the students. This doesn't surprise me because, in my opinion, he is a bully. The biggest bully on the Section playground. Perhaps that is because he identifies with them. Every time I took an issue to him, he would intimidate and bully my child, all while telling me there was no issue. Hint: When a child is afraid to go to school, there is a real issue. He is condescending to women. In general, he is a failure to students and will not advocate for them unless it is a situation or family that will make him look like a hero. It is all about career standing and not providing a good education in a safe environment. The school psychologist would do us all a favor if she stayed home. She sits in meetings with a superior attitude and allows the speech teacher, alone, decide when no more speech is necessary. Now I have a young adult that is still hard to understand.

I'm a very involved parent and I can't say enough good things about this school. My son was having a hard time learning because of his ADHD and was very far behind in reading and math, he also needed help with his speech and because of the wonderful teacher's especially Ms. Saidler, Mrs. Power's, Mrs. Willis and several others he's almost caught up to grade level now. Mr. Slane is an excellent Principal and is very approachable for both students and parents. The ladies in the office take their jobs and the safety of our children serious, but are very friendly and willing to help with whatever they can. Every one who works in this school goes above and beyond for our children and they do it all with a smile!

Section is a wonderful school. My daughter needs a little extra help as she is behind due to speech and hearing issues, and everyone is so patient with her. Mrs Lang is a wonderful caring teacher, I couldn t ask for a better teacher. Mr Slane is a great principle; he is kind and very involved with all the students. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged which I think is important. I was impressed that the ladies in the front office made an effort to know who I was in the first few weeks I was there; they knew me and who my daughter was. I have been scolded by them a few times, for not following the rules, but that is because they take their job and the safety of our children seriously. I definitely appreciate that. The school is very well organized and I feel great about leaving my child there every day. She has grown so much and is looking forward to first grade. That says a lot.

Well run school. Good leadership, beginning with the principal. Teacher will vary from grade to grade, but overall they are there to help your child grow. Parent involvement is high and supportive.

Section Elementary is a horrible school!!! I don't know who they paid to get the Blue Ribbon Award, but they DON'T deserve it. The principal is a two face unprofessional jerk. Don't expect him to care about your concerns. The kindergarten and first grade teachers are good, but the 2nd grade and up teachers are rude and unfriendly. They don't have a lot of patience with children especially children that need extra help! The school psychologist isn't good at her job either. Don't expect any kind of assistance from her ! All the employees at Section School need to change their attitudes! Starting with Mr. Slane and ending with the grumpy women that work in the office!! Remember, you are there for our children! Your salary is paid by tax dollars. If you can't be friendly to parents and help our children learn and grow then find a new career because YOU are a bad influence on our children!! This is a message for the teachers, When a child brings you a gift please make an effort to show your appreciation!! Remember, parents work hard for the money that goes into that gift. We try to teach our children the joy of giving but we also want them to feel that their kindness is appreciated!!

We decided to change schools from a local parochial school to Section Elementary for two of our children (grades 5 and 6). It was a difficult decision, but one we are now glad we made. Both of our children have thrived at Section due to the teachers that expect excellence and help support it. The teachers go out of there way to make sure the students and parents know what is expected and what is being taught. Teachers and staff are committed to student success and work with parents to make it a reality. We believe that Section Elementary deserves its "Blue Ribbon School" rating.
