Former principal made this an impossible place to work and thrive.

(Student) When I was first enrolled here I felt very unwelcome I now suppose it was because I had moved from the north? But now ( 4 years later ) I realized how awful this school was the front desk was always smacking on gum and being quite rude to other parents. The teachers were all a joke. I was often pushed back in class because of other kids.

The last two posts about being negative are total BS! This school is awesome and so are the teachers!

I use to believe this was an exceptional school and even transferred my child to be there but now I am thinking twice. If it wasn't near the end of the school year and emotionally detrimental I would go ahead and remove my child now. I have never had so much trouble with staff and teachers. The front desk and office staff are rude. The principal is unwelcoming and chooses who should be upheld as a parent and in my opinion should be replaced. I now have concern for my child due to the emotional state just from this year alone.

Oak Hill Elementary is the worst school in Burke County! It is all because of the principal and most of the teachers. The principal does not care about the children or the parents, she is very nasty and disrespectful. The test scores at Oak Hill are the worst in all of Burke County only 18 percent are passing and she is to blame. She is banning every child who is not in ag from entering Math Counts, which is wrong. All she cares about is if the tag on your car is up to date. She does not care about the school at all, She is only power hungry, and does not belong in the school system. Parents and children are afraid of her, and it is very obvious. The assistant principal needs to take over as principal, he would do a better job.

Oak Hill Elementary is an exemplary school; excellent tests scores and student behavior is a testament to the staff's diligence and skill. Leadership is strategic and strong; teachers are compassionate and support driven and parental involvement, while limited, consists of fine parents who offer tremendous support and resources.
