I was one of the children who was allowed to be corporally punished. As far as I know, they still allow it both at this school and the state of Georgia. Do NOT allow your children to be punished at the hands of a stranger — or physically in any way, for that matter. It is traumatizing and can start the snowballing of your child's mental health. The rest of the world may have forgotten about what happened here in 2016, but I have not, and I never will.I also remember one of my teachers making fun of one of my classmates who, as far as I remember, was not neurotypical. She also seemed to be weirded out by me as a child because of how I did not want to go outside or play with my classmates. Sometimes I talked to her, and it is clear to me now that she was either annoyed or wanted me to go away.Even disregarding all of that, I still would give the school the same rating. The principal at the time gave me superficial corporate vibes, most of my teachers did not like me or thought I was strange, and the students were... alright to me, I guess. The only reason why I gave this school 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the okay-ish food, the library selection, and that teacher I had in 4th grade... but she retired that same year, so just the library selection and the okay-ish food.

This school is amazing! My son attended k-2 here and I can’t wait for my daughter to attend.

How in the world can you justify HITTING a child!!! The teacher and principal should be fired from this school!! And blackmailing a parent saying that you will either suspend the child or the parent goes to jail? What kind of a world are we living in! Corperal Punishment should be STOPPED!! This story and video needs to be shown to some top level government personnel!

How is HITTING a child good. Teacher invloved should be fired. And principal removed. This is the 21st century not the 1900's when corperal punishments was used.

I LOVE JASPER COUNTY PRIMARY SCHOOL AND WASHINGTON PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL . The entire staff is made up of wonderful caring people who are very involved with the students and the community. The principals at both schools seem to know each student by name and have a genuine concern for their academic and personal well being. My oldest daughter who is in Fifth grade has been enrolled in three different schools systems one private two public and this is by far her favorite and mine. My children love going to school and are so excited about what they are learning and as a parent I don't think we could have a better school system.

We just moved here to Georgia in the beginning of the year so my son had to start fresh half way thru the school year. Jcps made his transition very smooth and made him feel very welcome. It trully is a great school. I even noticed a huge difference in how much more he learned and how much better he did with his work alltogether. Great school!
