Horrendous. Even with the name change to Buzz Aldrin, it’s an awful place for children of color. Looking for diversity and fairness, Run!!

Buzz Aldrin MS is a top notch Middle School and is getting better since Dr. Sack arrived as principal. Assistant Principal Jennings deserves as much praise. They really have done a great job at implementing Buzz as the STE(A)M school in the district. It's in a great area of Upper Montclair with a fantastically diverse student body. They have a great core staff as well as electives and after school options in Robotics, Sciences, Art, Dance, Theater, and more. The kids I know absolutely love attending Buzz Aldrin MS! The only thing I would ask for is air conditioning and professional audio in the auditorium! Highly recommended!

The staff at this school grade according to their like or dislike of the student /or parent. If you were to take the grades and match them to the work completed for each individual student you would find the specific areas to which the teacher graded indifferently. The staff doesn't realize that students talk to one another and see these differences.

My child, now in 7th grade loves going to Mt. Hebron. There are many technology and robotics electives and clubs to choose from. There are also many non-tech electives to choose from such as art, design, theater, band, writing, and more. The after school choices are great. Most importantly, the core courses of LA, Math, Sci, and SS are doing a great job of preparing my child for HS. I've been particularly happy with the Language Arts teacher, Ms. Murphy in House 1. She keeps the kids reading and writing. My child really knows how to write great papers now! Fantastic! The new principal, Jill Sack is doing a good job implementing the "STEAM" and other initiatives. Kudos to Mr. Taylor for all his hard work developing the robotics program.

i thought the teachers were very great. However, most of the students were very mean, especially those in house one

I'm currently a new student at Mount Hebron Middle School and have just entered the seventh grade. Most of the kids have known each other since preschool but they're all very welcoming and helpful. It's easy to fit in and basically drama-free. Good teachers, good students, good school. It is very diverse and kids help new kids get to their classes. All of the kids stick with their groups but they're always happy to add new members. It's fairly big and there are 5 houses that the kids are assigned to. A house is basically a floor where the child's homeroom and locker is located. Kids constantly leave their house throughout the day to get to their other classes located on other floors. House 1 kids stick with the same students and teachers for all three years, as well as House 2, House 3, House 4, and House 5 kids do. You can take Spanish or French. There are many of electives offered. There's a A & B-day block schedule. English, Math, Social Studies, and Science are mandatory but the rest are up to you. All kids take gym and have a gym locker. Children with special needs get an equal education and are mixed up with the other kids at gym. There is a fair amount of work, challenging.

I have to say that this school did not prepare my daughter for the higher level courses at the high school. As a straight A student in middle school, we had hoped that she would not struggle with work load. However, the teachers at the high school told us that the mt. Hebron kids struggle the most, particularly with science, while A students from the other 2 middle schools have easier transitions. We believe that is correct..our daughter is in renaissance and having a very high quality education, while my older daughter had what I now understand to be an extremely poor middle school education. My recommendation is to not risk it...unless your kid needs a less rigorous education for a specific reason...just DON'T allow them to put your kid in Mt. Hebron, unless you make a point to provide extra academics on the side so they will be able to be in the same place as their peers from the other schools. Mt. Hebron languished for too long....it's broke and I really don't think a new tech lab or more extra curriculars can fix it. Its unfortunate...and completely unfair to unsuspecting parents! what a mess...

This school has undergone a wonderful change in the past 2 years; with new principals, new schedule, new vision. The best is yet to come for students!

What a difference a year makes. Under the leadership of our new principal and energetic PTA, Mount Hebron is resuming its academic strides and sense of school community. We are very pleased with Mount Hebron's dedicated teaching staff and learning environment.
