Carondelet Elementary School is a wonderful, welcoming place for children. The teachers are firm yet loving, creating an environment where students feel supported and safe. They are highly organized, with consistent routines that help children thrive. Our child particularly loves math, and the school makes it fun by using different learning methods and memorization techniques. The specialty classes are fantastic; choir class is a favorite, and the art teacher creatively combines lessons about ancient art techniques with stories about influential historical artists.The school is very focused on safety, with strong systems and protocols in place to ensure children are well-protected. Parents are actively involved, and there’s a warm, friendly community spirit. Carondelet offers various engaging activities, such as indoor sports and the zoo program. It’s also a magnet school for Groves reading, which is excellent. We appreciate the Quiet Room, where students can take tests in a more peaceful environment. Communication from teachers is excellent, with regular updates for parents, and we find the homework both helpful and appropriate for our child’s learning level.The classroom has only 15 students, compared to 30 at the previous school, allowing for more individualized attention. The school is very community-oriented, encouraging students to give back, like when they recently sang, read stories, and made art for veterans. We wish we had switched to Carondelet sooner! It’s affordable, well-organized, and has been an ideal fit for our family. Most importantly, we truly feel that every staff member genuinely cares about you, your children, and your family.

A few years after a transfer to Carondelet, we are extremely pleased with the education our child has received. Not just the book learning, but the social emotional and experiential learning that comes with human interaction. This really must take some planning by the staff. Marathon Day is a great example of how this school engages kids in service outside its own four walls. Some hiccups along the way with grade reporting systems, but teachers are responsive when you ask for help. It's a community for sure. Family feel, complete with bickering and complaining, but still a great place for a kid to learn.

I think Carondelet is the worst school to send a kid. The school is not excepting to kids who want to do something different with there lives then be a priest or a salesmen, and the things that really ticks me off is the Spanish teacher in the upper campus. She is super sexist and always yells at kids for no reason and she mainly targets boys. This is a terrible school.

We moved our third grader from public school to Carondelet this past year. Ms. Gunay (his teacher) and the Carondelet staff have made the transition wonderful. He's so excited to come back for fourth grade!

Carondelet is a gem in Southwest Minneapoils. When you join Carondelet, you become part of a family. Everyone is so caring and supportive of one another, and the teachers are so dedicated! The parents have a strong network (Home and School Association) and there is great parent involvement (during Covid, this has been limited, but there are still ways to help the school and feel part of the community, through at-home projects, dropping off appreciation snacks for teachers, and small outdoor events). Covid protocols are followed and class sizes are small. The homeroom teachers have been amazing, and we also love the specialist classes (and teachers who teach them) such as art, gym, library, music, Spanish, and Makerspace! All of the teachers have gone above and beyond during the pandemic to give our kids a well-rounded education. Service projects are included throughout the school year, so that students become stronger not only academically, but stronger in their sense of helping others and making a difference in their community.

My headline: this school is a hidden gem. Recommended from our next door neighbors, Carondelet was the best choice we could have ever made for our 3 children (in 8th, 6th and 4th now). We've got 2 who excel and a third with a learning disability, and they've done a great job helping all 3 do their best. The community of parents, teachers and staff is amazing. (We're actually really missing the parent get-to-gethers with COVID.) And what they've done to give students an amazing year, even with COVID, is above and beyond. And most importantly, these teachers REALLY care about the kids academically and emotionally. It brings me to tears to think of all the times teachers have shown that for all 3 of our kids. I couldn't thank the teachers and staff more for all they do, and this year, that's even more true. I say - don't look anywhere else. This really is THE BEST school choice in Minneapolis or Edina.

Carondelet is not just a school but a family of teachers and administrators that brought out the best in my son. He was academically prepared for St. Thomas Academy. The life lessons he learned here are priceless. Things like: compassion for other,. integrity, respect, just to name a few. Carondelet played a large role into shaping him into the outstanding young man he is today. The teachers love each and every student. The second you walk into the school you can see it in their faces and feel it in each interaction. My older son spent nine years here and my younger son is in second grade year. So grateful to have found this gem many years ago and looking forward to being a part of the community for a long time.

We love Carondelet! The teachers are fantastic! They are enthusiastic, positive role models who really get to know the students and their individual needs. You can tell the teachers truly love their jobs. We are so happy we found this school!!

I few regrets in my life, but sending my children to Carondolet Catholic in Minneapolis is one of my largest regrets.

I thought this school was wonderful until one of my children ended up needing a little more help. He thinks and does his best outside the box. This school has no place for that child, only the cookie cutter version. Very disappointing.

The lower campus was good but the upper campus (starting in 3rd grade) has a lot of social problems (bullying/mean girls/cliques) as well as a poorly structured and unchallenging curriculum. We pulled our child out in the 4th grade and many others do the same.

We have had a two children graduate from Carondelet and our youngest still in the Middle School at Carondelet. Most of the students in my sons class went into AP and honors classes and are now graduating with high honors. Both of children took advanced Math at Carondelet and excelled in all the core curriculum areas. Both were well prepared for high school and now college. The school is highly recommended by area high schools, which says a lot for the program. Great school!

Carondelet Catholic School had an amazing elementary school. I have three kids. My first one went through the middle school program. The teachers didn't know much more than the students, and the smarter kids in the class ended up teaching themselves. I pulled my 2nd child out in fifth grade, and 3rd child in fourth. Even in Elementary, the smarter kids didn't get a good education. If you're at the elementary school, run from the middle school.

I absolutely love this school, my kids are in grades 7 and 5 and every year since kindergarten has been great. The academics are rigorous and the learning environment is very positive. My kids have developed life long friends and have built skills that will be valuable throughout their lives. The school is a gem in sw Minneapolis.
