Mount Tamalpais School has been so incredible for our three children! The school is academically rigorous, but also focuses heavily and healthy social emotional development. Teachers and administrators are warm and inviting and our kids feel seen and safe. The school prioritizes the arts so all children have art, music, and performing arts. Our kids are thriving in the nurturing environment at MTS and learning skills necessary for middle school, high school and beyond.

We have two children attending this school in different grades and have been part of the MTS community for the last three years. We have felt so very welcome from the start! The energy of MTS faculty is out of this world and teacher expertise is top notch. The MTS Professional Committee live and breath the school values of leading with kindness, honoring childhood and practicing active inclusion. I don't even have to ask my child when getting in the car what their day was like because they immediately start sharing all of the fun learning opportunities with me that they had that day - I can't even get a word in! The joy is contagious. The parent community is strong and really cares. There are a variety of ways to be involved if that is something of interest. The relationships that my children are building with students in other grades will last a lifetime. The campus is so magical! The arts program continues to amaze me! We couldn't be happier here!

The teachers are all incredibly set in their ways, both when it comes to learning and the students' social lives. If you're not an extroverted kid, the teachers will do everything in their power to change that, regardless of if it's welcome or not. No action is ever taken against bullying. Most of the teachers are excellent, and there are solid classes, but there's still plenty of teachers who aren't great. And while there's a lot of talk about change, not much ever gets changed - especially when it's the students who are advocating for those changes to the administrators. There are some positive aspects. The campus is nice, and the arts program is fantastic - one of the best aspects of the school. Both lower and middle school have the opportunity to perform in a musical every year, along with year-round classes in dance, performing arts, music and speech. But the negatives far outweigh the positives, in my opinion.

This is the best school you can find for your child in the Bay area. It is a small campus in a beautiful setting that provides the ideal place to foster learning, collaboration and sense of community. The faculty and staff are fabulous and the head of school is the best educator you will find in the country. It was an amazing experience for my two daughters, but now it is time to move to east coast.

This school has so much potential, but their rhetoric does not much their reality. Overall a very disappointing experience.

What I admire most about MTS is how the school successfully balances and embraces its core traditions of fostering kindness, integrity, respect, and fairness, with its forward-thinking teaching methodologies. This philosophy distinguishes not only what MTS teaches in its forward-thinking STEM program, but what type of advanced techniques and tools it uses in its teaching, such as social-emotional learning. And through this marriage of core traditions with advanced teaching techniques, the school has fostered a respectful culture where kids become critical thinkers, explore boundaries, and take safe academic risks.

We currently have two children at MTS and it is a great experience for parents and kids alike. Andrew, the new head of school, is wonderful and is supported by fantastic staff.
