We have a daughter in 10th grade at Middleburg Academy. We could not be more pleased. The head of school, Mr. Bell, has cultivated a real atmosphere of excellence that can be seen in the faculty and administration. He is one of the most energetic, dedicated and driven professionals I have seen, and I have had my children in private education for over 11 years.I am confident that my daughter will graduate ready to meet the challenges and demands of college level study.

Middleburg Academy produces kids who are confident, mature, and outspoken. Individuality is encouraged in a supportive, nurturing environment with a very talented faculty and staff. A lovely campus too!

My experience was less than satisfactory . I believe that the headmaster has his own image in mind and makes no attempt to appeal to parents or be involved with parents. Stays in his office with the door closed. I loved the teachers and classes, but I felt like the admin team prioritized the smarter students over those who might not be 4.0 students. College counselor also delayed my recommendation letters on purpose.

Both of my children have attended all four years at Middleburg Academy. They, as with all teenagers, have had ups and downs, but every year the student body grows in maturity and excellence. Taken as a whole, the students are amazing, and the individuals I know have excelled in academia, sports, arts, and leadership. I have seen the hallways become more energized and happy as the years have passed. The school is definately encouraging honesty, self expression and growth. My last child will be graduating in June. Both of my children are moving on in their lives with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the next phases of their lives. I am very happy with our experiences at Middleburg Academy!

My daughter is a current student there, and we have had a great experience thus far. Her first semester had it's ups and downs, but her teachers, advisor, and the administration were there to help out in any way. I have noticed her self-advocacy skills become stronger because she has asked teachers for extra help when she needs it, and she has acclimated well in the student body. Compared to her previous school where she seemed to be a number (some of her teachers at her previous school didn't even know who she was when I asked for recommendations for her application to Middleburg), she has seemed to acclimate well to the Middleburg community. She has friends from all different grade levels, and her interest in art has sky rocketed, and the school allows her the time and space to be able to have a creative outlet.

I usually never respond to this type of message board, however, I have to after reading these misleading responses. My child went to Middleburg Academy and I want you all to know that we had a horrible experience. The leadership and teachers are not what you should expect from a private school or quite frankly any school in Virginia. My child was bullied by the students and mistreated by the administration. Middleburg Academy seems to be a dumping ground for kids that have had trouble in either the public or private schools and is permeated with teachers that are highly educated, but have no experience teaching children. I paid full tuition ($23K a year) for my child to go to this school, and I was prepared to donate generously to ensure that my child had a great experience to ensure that Middleburg Academy continued to expand and grow as an institution. Even though the school leader presents a perfect picture of the school, it is anything but a dysfunctional place. I would not encourage any child to go to this school. There is a reason why families are either not going to this school or pulling their kids out after a short period of time. You can attack my position here, but I am just telling the truth. I have nothing against Middleburg Academy but just want the people of this area to be careful of what you hear from the leadership of this school and think through judiously if this is the type of environment you want your child to be exposed to. I have three other younger kids, and they will not be going to Middleburg Academy.

Good school, I like the direction of where this school is headed (with no tolerance for bullying on social media or in the hallways).I understand that this place had a turbulent past, before it became an independent school. What I like about this school is how open the leadership is to parent and student input. The current headmaster has invited me and regularly invites other parents for weekly coffee meetings to discuss the vision of the school and to get feedback.

Interesting how so many glowing, 5 star reviews showed up all at once when word on the street is the exact opposite (also knocking all of previous negative posts off the site). How many students/faculty have left over the past year? And why?

Middleburg Academy helped me prepare for college. I was not overwhelmed with the amount of work I had my first year of college, I was able to express my opinions in class without doubt, and I feel like I had a step up from most of the students in my classes.

My daughter was having trouble at her previous school, but MA' s small classes and amazing faculty have helped her understand subjects she never really understood before.

Middleburg Academy's new STEAM curriculum has been fantastic for my son. He is learning to code! Something I never dreamt of doing at his age.

The small class size, dedicated faculty and caring student body created an environment where our children thrived. They gained confidence, found a passion for leadership and a love of learning. Our oldest child is finding great success at a top engineering college because of how well Middleburg prepared him--not only academically but also by fostering his independence and personal responsibility. Our youngest is thrilled with the new STEAM curriculum. She is encouraged to pursue academic excellence while remaining active in sports and clubs. Knowing she has an entire school for support and encouragement, she has been able to handle all that that level of involvement requires with maturity and confidence--which comes from having motivated, compassionate peers. She considers Middleburg Academy her second family--What a gift!!
