When we decided to move to northern Virginia, my top priority was finding excellent schools where our kids would feel at home and able to reach their fullotential. I was concerned that most of the schools in Loudoun were becoming too large and their education too mass-produced. My husband and I grew up in small towns and we value the personal attention and care that we received, and we wanted that for our kids. Banneker is that and so much more. The minute you walk in the door you can sense the positive energy from the staff and administration. Our son was in a class with 13 other students and he thrived educationally as well as socially. I can't say enough about this little gem of a school, and I feel so fortunate to have found it.

Excellent teachers and staff who really care about the school and want to help each student do their best!

Banneker is a great school. I have had at least one child in Banneker for over 9 years and have been consistently pleased with the education my kids have received. The administration is eager to involve parents and works to get the children excited about being good citizens in the school. The teachers are wonderful and work hard to educate every child. I highly recommend this school and have been very pleased to be a part of it.

There are not enough good things that I can say about this wonderful little school! My son has been a student since kindergarten and is a rising 4th grader. The teachers and administration are top notch. Proud to be a part of the Banneker family.

Banneker boasts the best of two worlds--the small, community school that feels like a family (which disappeared from most of the country about 50 years ago), with the broad resources of the Loudoun County school system. I have two children at Banneker who have loved every teacher and who have been cared for warmly and supportively. Academics are solid, and there is noticeable focus on camaraderie, student safety, and good behavior. Teachers are engaged, creative, and responsive, and accommodating kids with special needs with skill and sensitivity. The only negative review on this site came from a parent who has two children at Banneker. After her daughter had a bad experience, she sent her daughter to another school for a year (her son stayed); however, the change of venue didn't help, so the child returned to Banneker. To her comments, I am very concerned about bullying and have never witnessed or heard of bullying being tolerated at Banneker. It is a sweet little school with more diversity than most of Western Loudoun and I have loved the safe and nurturing place it has been to ignite my kids' love of learning.

My daughter has been constantly harassed and bullied by a core group of girls from the first day of school. There has been an absolute lack of support from the school administration. Banneker is a small school with many families having sent generations of their children here. We are a new family to the Banneker community and are left with the feeling that the the school favors the legacy families.

We love Banneker, and so have our kids. All the benefits of a public school, while at the same time being small enough and with caring staff that know each and every child. They feel like family. After sending our son here one year as a trial, we loved the school so much we moved into the school district so that he and our other children could continue to attend.
