Possibly the worst middle school in eastern balt county. def top 3 in the entire county. admin will not inform communicty about all the problms . fights in classrooms DAILY, admin never in hallway, students run the school, students run the hallways during class time, one ran into a teacher and injured her to the point they are now on disability. its an unsafe school. they have multpile outdoor entrances where ANYONE could enter the school. I would be scared to send my child here. i pay for private school because I enjoy the nice areas of 21220. middle river middle is a SCAB MACHINE. teachers only care about moving up the ladder. current admin will continue running it into the ground. DEI hire principal replaced shannon parker who jumped ship at exactly 30 years of experience DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. they will become friends with the worst the community has to offer pay for private somehow someway

Hmm…my son came home and told me about students who just roam the halls , kids who curse at each other and lack of togetherness as a class. Sad that he’s experiencing school this way, I had a more positive experience but there was a mutual fear of teachers and discipline then. Hope to see improvement. Maybe less tech? Most the time he says kids don’t come with charged items! Wow

My son started 6th grade this year, we knew it would be a huge transition considering all these preteens and teens going thru puberty and everything that comes with that. What we were NOT prepared for is the staff acting the same. Esp since my son is on a IEP and is supposed to be scheduled and treated accordingly... this is from 1 teachers mouth to my ears "We give him the work, he refuses to do it so he doesn't do it". That's that? THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS HE IS A ON IEP IN THE 1ST PLACE. HE NEEDS ALITTLE MORE ENCOURAGEMENT. In response to my reaction I was told that my son "understands the curriculum perfectly fine, he just refuses to do it". He doesn't even know what the word curriculum means but yeah, I'm "sure" he understands it.

Students are very sweet and down-to-earth and are looking for guidance from staff and administration. There would be a significant difference in the school if the parents joined forces with the school to create a more effective learning community. Staff also needs to be more relatable and consistent with their class rules and find out why are some of the children angry. All children don't come from happy friendly homes, and they need to understand that and approach every student as a unique human being. Once relationships are built and the principal's presence is more known this school will be even better. This school like any school has its ups and downs and the work needs to be put in to get the desired outcome.

Middle River Middle is an example of what happens when an administration gives up. Between sexual graffiti on the desk, vandalism throughout the school, some so damaging that it led to closed bathrooms for weeks. Students have to wait outside for busses that are an hour late because they cannot be trusted inside the school. There is harassment on the bus, on the sidewalks and in the school hallways. Instead of raising the bar to help students do better and achieve more, they just lower it so any kid putting in half hearted effort will get straight As. I would never recommend this school to anyone. Do whatever you can to move out of the area or send your kids to private school.

Taught at this school for one year. Some teachers and administrators helpful and kind. Majority only out for themselves and threw many under the bus. Students academic and social performance was two to three grade levels below. Parents viewed teachers as babysitters. This job made me reassess my career in education. Work at a mill now and couldn't be happier.

Just utterly terrible i was bullied and harassed nonstop and nothing was done because i have anxiety so they just said i was overreacting when i said kids beat me up and would yell at me for no reason also there's nothing protecting lgbtq+ students i wore my pride flag to school and was told to take it off because "its unprofessional and might offend someone" like bro if they are offended oh well mind your own buisness if i could i would give this school a -10/10

All Middle River students receive free breakfast in the classroom, computers to take home, papers get lost....online assignments don't go missing, every opportunity to make up work or retake tests to improve grades. I love that! I'm relocating my family for work to a school rated 10 on great schools. I was thrilled until I found out the rated 10 school doesn't offer breakfast in the classroom, they don't provide computers (except in computer lab). In comparison I think Middle River is a far better school and worried my daughters who are used to turning in work via email will get overwhelmed with paperwork.

Poor. But they may also fall victim to the poor state of the county. Principal could also be more present in the hallways to reinforce hallway procedures. Students do not listen when teachers try to keep them safe in classrooms in case of an emergency, or when a teacher asks them not to run in the hallways. I have overheard many teachers complain about how they hate working here.

I can't believe that this school has a better rating than Golden Ring. There is fights & bleh the school is bad. I heard that they teach you things that we already learned all year.

It is a very good school. The community is very nice also. They have a football team called the a Middle River Renegades. My son is getting straight As in that school. The principal is very sweet and nice as well.

This is our second year at Middle River and I have to say this is one of the worst schools I have every seen. The students are awful, the school does nothing to try and keep any kind of control. The staff have bullied my child as much as the students. Her bus driver calling her names and another TEACHER in the school hit her... sad As a resident of Baltimore county who can't afford private school this is the only option, but we are moving this year.

Lets face it. It's middle school. I don't know 1 person or parent that has jumped up and down and said wow I love Middle school. Its a tough age and a huge transition. However 1 thing I can say is Middle River Middle School has a great faculty and staff whom I find helpful when I as a parent has an issue and a great dedication when teaching the students. The principal Mrs. Parker is absolutely great. Very supportive and someone I can tell truly loves what she does. I see her constantly in the halls talking to the students when they change classes and she has supported the PTA in every way possible. Grades have improved, and the kids (despite it being middle school) seem like they do not dread being there. Whatever you heard about Middle River in the past, leave it there. As with anything in life, you need to open your eyes to the changes being made and see the world is not living in the past any more. If you are involved with your kids and play an active role in their school life, then you have done all that you can do to see they are on the right path. Give Middle River a chance, you won't be disappointed.

This school is awful. My child is new to the 8th grade here and she has dealt with many bullies and inconsiderate teachers. The school is not challenging at all. The best I can do is put my child in the GT program which I hope will be challenging. The teachers and staff do not know how handle problems correctly. My child has went to the guidance office several times and she feels like a burden to them. My daughter is strong girl doesn't pay the bullies any mind. When teachers start holding the whole class back for one idiot who can't control themselves, That's where my problem starts. If you want your child to just "pass by" in school this is the place for you. Mediocre is the motto of this school. Since when does honor roll include C's? If you want kids to do better, Make getting Honor roll something that requires a little effort! I'll be moving in June for my kids sake's.
