This school has gone downhill dramatically in the past 30 years. The influx of families from the city has caused a severe decrease in environment and learning at this school. The children behave horribly and the bullying here is severe and little to nothing is done about it. You are lucky if your kid will be able to even read.

I was Very skeptical about my child going to this school with such a low rating. His home school is highly rated but they werent equipped to deal with a troubled student with learning disabilities. He has made such incredible progress in 1 short year that im so glad he was placed at hawthorne

School seems to be getting worse and worse due to the current administration and so many staff changes. Parents aren’t allowed to play no where near as much of a role in the school anymore either. It’s extremely unwelcoming. Administration and some staff lie to your face an sweep serious issues under the rug.

I had been warned by many people about having my children attend this school, and I sure do wish I had listened. I figured, it's elementary school, how bad could the students be? Both of my children in 2 differn t grades told me that the students cuss, even while talking to staff and nothing is even said to correct it. One claims their teacher has cried due to misbehaved students and the other misses class time because their class is so out of control, that they have to stop and have someome intervene. I was at the school to speak to someome about my daughter being harassed and in my short time being there, I witnessed 4 differn t students, in differn t classes, in the hall, dis respecting and talking out of line to their teachers. I then witnessed a child talk telling their teacher to "open the f...ing door" repeatedly after recess. What I was even more shocked about was that these students were not even being spoken too about their behavior. I have never been so horrified. From what I have witnessed, the students run the school and the teachers have thrown their hands up. It is no wonder why the test scores are so low. My daughter was attacked, one which was pre meditated, because someone told her that someone had been planning on doing so, and the principle acted as if she could care less. She claimed to not be able to tell me if the other student would be disciplined or not, yet I guess expects my children to be sent back blind, as she gave me no information as to how my children would be safe or what my next steps were to get the situation handled. If you plan on sending your precious, innocent children to this school, please do otherwise. This school reminds me of the horror stories I hear about what goes on in city schools. My children are not alloud to hear valgur language on television or in music, yet have to hear it every day while the teachers are being handled by the out of control students.
