Been living in the Borough of Metuchen for 17 years, I have two children in the school system, it has been really great up until recently. Have had issues with the school administration at this school regarding my child who has special needs/requires some accommodation. My other child was also classified under the same but didn't have these issues with him. It seems like the special education program is underfunded, something is going on. My child needed a 1:1 paraprofessional since starting this school in 5th grade but never got any help. To this day he will go from class to class with his hoodie/coat on because he needs help/reminders on what to do, to leave it in the locker. As for the administration, I honestly don't know where they get these people, they are terrible with children, at least special needs children. I wish I was making this up but I'm not. If you don't know how to work with children maybe you should really rethink your career as an educator. As far as the teachers, I know they are great at what they do and they do their best given the circumstances having to work under an administration like this, I'm not blind to the politics of it. I've already escalated my concerns to the school superintendent office and the results of that were mixed. At the end of the day the principal and assistant principal were not removed. I really don't want to send my child to this school but at the moment I have no choice. As a family we are looking to move out of the state anyway, 17 years ago this was a great area to raise a family but recently with the Amazon warehouses opening up in nearby Edison Township, crime has spiked in the area, theft, break-ins, etc. And there's a marijuana dispensary opening up in the borough to boot so look out for that gem. You know when an area is going downhill when a dispensary opens up, this just confirms to us what we've come to realize what was happening. All the apartments going up will only make traffic worse, I'm sure if I return to this area in 20 years it will look just like Hudson County which is where we left for a better quality of life. The local Walmart is already locking up aisle after aisle of their products behind plexiglass due to theft. And let's not forget about all the homeless sleeping in the Walmart parking lot, that's also a sign of an area going downhill. I would NOT recommend this school, especially if you have a child with special needs. There are nicer communities out there to live in.

the rules are painfully stupid and pointless. the staff pretend to care about the kids but it’s clear they don’t care whatsoever.

vice principal makes dress code to strict, telling girls their bodies are objects and that they are "distracting" the boys from their schoolwork for the clothes they are wearing which is disgusting, besides that the school is pretty nice and students receive good educations

This school is so bad because the bathroom is bad and the lunch is ridiculous and the teachers are literally tyrants because of GoGuardian. And the principal does not care about the kids. And the vice principal makes school rules so unfair! NEVER BRING YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL!

The teachers are mean and unnecessarily strict, the school lunch is pretty bad and the school rules are unfair and annoying. I have not once seen anyone have a positive experience with this school!

School has poor leadership and no diversity. Leaders are constantly scolding students.

the school has great teachers and great way of teaching kids and teachers know what they are doing for all there class and what class is faster understanding than the other one so if you are moving to Metuchen I say send your kids to it.

Principal Glutz and her staff work tirelessly to make sure that each student is acknowledged and their presence is greatly appreciated. The teachers give 150% of themselves to ensure that each student knows they are their to bring out the best in the students, by encouraging them, making themselves available before, during and after school for extra help, being advocates, and making learning for their students the best educational & fun experience ever. My daughter has thrived at Edgar Middle School because of the dedication to excellence that the school strives for in each aspect of the students lives; preparing the students for life ahead. Students know that what they put into their education will propel them forward toward their dreams and to succeed in life. I couldn't be more prouder to be a parent of an Edgar Middle School student who's excelled across all her academics and extra curriculum activities. Edgar Middle School is extremely supportive of the Music & Arts and knows and encourages the important role it play in improving student academically. Thank you Principal Glutz for all that you and your staff do for our kids every single day. Wishing you continued success. BKH.
