I had an awful experience with this school. I finally pulled my 1st grader out of school and we had to move to a different town. Principal Scully did not care that I was pulling my son out of school after they failed to offer to sit down with myself as the parent and figure out why my son was struggling in this school. Since I moved t a different school district my son is doing great and his confidence has completely changed. The teachers don’t care about students. They don’t want to put in the time or effort to teach the children. They just place them in front of iPads and expect the children to learn. I am so grateful and happy that I removed front child from this school. He loves going to school now. It is true that the teachers and staff make all the difference in your child’s education and experience.

My son is a first grader. We found that the teachers here would not put any effort in teaching kids at all. Teachers would spend their day on their computers and let students play on their iPad all time. Once or twice in a week, they would scratch the homework for some reason. When they give homework, they give some random unrelated homework where students have no clue how to do it because they have never done anything similar to that at school. Often teachers would inform students to let parents help the homework. we don't have any problem helping homework, but when we ask the students, they have never seen anything similar solved at school. When the progress card is created, there are no written feedback on what to improve or the reason why a grade is announced. You will just see some random numbers being put on the progress report and there is no way to make sense of it on what/how something need to be improved.. I think the teachers are too lazy to teach anything at school and they are taking their pleasure time at school and just warming their chars at school. It is an easy and low paying job, I understand, but you can always do a better job teaching kids. If you are considering this school for your kid, please do a favor to your kid, do not consider this school district.

Lincoln School one final try this year. They have made out my child to either be a trouble maker(in last year) or very "slow" because he gets over the slow pace of the classroom When we took him to a neurologist as per the suggestion of the guidance counselor teacher and principal we found out that there is nothing wrong with my son except that he was getting bullied at school and had no one who would stick up for him. Instead they decided to take advantage of my son being good and honest and always tells the truth the school treated him with punishment and not to those bullies who were passing bad comments about mother and using words which they are not suppose to at this age.I don't know what their parents must be teaching them to these bully kids. and school knowing this fact they punish him when he defended himself from a child that constantly bullies him. They claim to take bullying seriously but seem to always blame the victims instead. I am going to complain this fact to school district too if they are not going to take the proper action on those kids.

I have to say good (not great) because while it's currently great for my daughter, it previously was not so great for my son. There have been several improvements since my son was there. Part of this may be that the principal changed. Part of it may be the teachers my kids were assigned to. I also often say you have to know what is best for your individual child. OLDER CHILD: My now 8th grade son went to Lincoln for full-day kindergarten (which has since been reduced to a half-day) and first grade. I was not pleased with his progress. He was a preemie and I requested speech therapy and was denied several times. This seemed to also affect his reading. I had to wind up supplementing with my own efforts and sending him to Rutgers' summer reading program (which is excellent by the way!) My son become frustrated with Lincoln and did not enjoy school. I switched him to Metuchen Christian (which gave him free speech therapy for a few years). Now he is happy, engaged, reads well, and has been on the honor roll alot.Younger child: My daughter attended Lincoln last year for first grade and now second grade. She is thriving and will probably remain at Lincoln for the rest of her elementary school years. One new change is now the kids all have access to laptops. For first graders its school use only, but they get to take them home each night in the 2nd grade). They are doing all sorts of things my son never did, like using google docs, creating slide shows, internal school email, using educational websites like prodigy, etc. She also participates in the school's new weekly computer coding class. They also now have a nice playground (which was built after my son left). There also seems to be more of an effort to push school spirit and pride. The new principal is very friendly.

My child really enjoys going to school everyday. The teachers, principal and staff are friendly and helpful. Children are taught to be independent and responsible. Hope the school continues to grow and all the families can cherish good memories of their children's growth.

My son has been going to 3rd grade this year, really impressive with the activities in the school. They have introduced number of programs to motivate the kids to learn more. I can see a big change in my kid’s attitude towards his studies and overall behavior. It looks like this school has changed a lot compared to 2 years back.

My child has been at this schhol for 5 years. The current principal is awful, poor teachers to deal with her. The teachers seem to care about the children. They've taken away in class parties and more. I would not be able to bear another year at this school.Glad we are leaving. Sometimes people forget who they work for.

I'm terribly disappointed in the half day Kindergarten. This doesn't work for families that have two parents working. Also, for my older child, there are some kids that tend interrupt the classroom and hold the class back from learning. Control in the classroom is minimal. I also find that the quality of work is not as strenuous as what I had as a child growing up in the public school system. Although we will have to pay tuition, we will explore the open houses and look at switching to a private school in Metuchen or Edison for next year where there is full day kindergarten for my youngest child, discipline for the older ones, and hopefully a more challenging curriculum.

We are giving Lincoln School one final try this year. In the past two years, they have made out my child to either be a trouble maker or very "slow" because he gets over the slow pace of the classroom (he's actually gifted). When we took him to a neurologist, as per the suggestion of the guidance counselor, teacher and principal, we found out that there is nothing wrong with my son except that he was getting bullied at school and had no one who would stick up for him. When the school was told that I was deploying during his first grade year, they offered to give him extra support within class and school activities. Instead, they decided to take advantage of me being gone (and not in the office weekly) to call my son a bully and try to punish him when he defended himself from a child that constantly bullies him. They claim to take bullying seriously, but seem to always blame the victims instead. I'm hoping this year will see changes since it's Cavuto's second year, but we shall see.

Has a very positive atmosphere since the arrival of the newest principal. They are working hard to create an environment where the children are motivated to learn. The new library is great and the use of technology in the classrooms is increasing quickly. We've had great teacher experiences!

This school is pretty overcrowded. There were multple attempts to raise funds for extension, which all failed due to residents not willing to tolerate tax increases. Teachers are not bad, trying to make the best of the situation, but limited resources don't allow to achieve better than average quality of education.

I put a great review for this school on 20 Feb, 2012 with rating of 5/5. But soon after I noticed a few things that made very upset with the teachers and made me write this review. In spite of giving my daughter freshly cooked lunch in the morning of 23 Feb, she was not given the food from home yesterday and also the snack that she got from home. She carried both, the lunch and snack as usual in her lunch bag. So there was no question of her not knowing that she didnt bring food. She didnt eat any of this for the whole day and I'm not sure whether some one noticed that she has not eaten as usual or not. Also she complained that someone pushed her the same day and she fell in gym and got hurt. So to me it looks like there is something going on against her for some unknown reasons and feel that my daughter who is a very happy and helpful child generally, is being harrased in some way which is very sad. Also the teacher that I met on her parent teacher conference, didnt seem friendly at all. This is very contradictory to the review that I put just a few days back saying that the teachers are good because initially I felt it so. I am deeply disappointed at what has happened.
