Oak Knoll has the warmest community, most engaged teachers, and holistic approach to education.

My daughter has attended Oak Knoll since kindergarten and is a rising 5th grader at the time of this review. We have been very happy with Oak Knoll, both the teachers, the administration, and the support staff. The teachers are amazing. They care very deeply for the students and foster a great classroom environment. The teachers respond quickly to messages and are very professional. The students are generally very friendly and not too cliquey. Usually bullying is taken care of very quickly. The school counselor is very good and is able to deal with difficult situations without creating any drama. There is a high level of expectation for parent participation in school activities: science fair, yearbook, sports coaching, theater, field trip proctoring, etc. The one area where Oak Knoll could do better is with math and writing. Parents often complain about any challenges that their child has and it results in the curricula often starting out ambitious and being relaxed by mid-year due to flak from the parents. Many families have to supplement math with private lessons like from Mathnasium or AJ Tutoring.

The administrators (self righteous, judgmental, and inexperienced) are what makes this school terrible.

This is our fourth year at Oak Knoll and we could not be happier. The school provides a nurturing environment and a strong sense of community, and staff are always looking for ways to improve the student experience. My kids look forward to going to school every day, and show tremendous growth year after year.

School located in a very safe neighborhood, and your kids can walk/bike to school. Beautiful campus. I felt whole culture around this school( or whole Silicon Valley? ) is competitive, surrounded by lots of extremely successful omega rich people. Unfortunately, we never felt community here. If you are white or rich, or native English speaker? Or one if those IT giant people, you may feel differently. Though we met some kind , friendly people , and we appreciate them. But if I can go back, I would choose Palo Alto or Laurel elementary? To be honest.

There is a lot of talk by the leadership, but actions are missing. Bullying is an issue, however they spend more time lecturing the parent on the term "bullying" rather than handling the ongoing issues between the children.

Administrative staff, starting at the top is very defensive, inexperienced, sometimes dishonest, and arrogant, I suspect, due to marginal abilities. Previous principal (D Ackerman) and office staff were excellent. Huge contrast- though improving. Some office staff poorly trained with miserable attitudes and routinely incompetent. Teaching staff is on average very caring, supportive, and motivated; high marks, but not enough to offset poor leadership.

Great school, with some amazing teachers and excellent leadership. We were lucky to have our kids an multi-age, and teachers were terrific: very caring and effective in how they dealt with issues. My only issue with the school is about its lack of diversity.

This has been an excellent school for my child. Caring helpful teachers, an active community that pitches in to help. Great campus facilities. Wonderful children. I can't ask for more!
