I couldn't be more pleased with this school and its staff. My daughter is flourishing, and could not be happier.

Collectively, our two kids have spent over a decade at the Walden School (pre-K to 4th so far). We’ve loved watching them grow and learn so much under the guidance and care of their wonderful teachers. The Walden School is a special place where children receive individual attention, make strong bonds with their peers and teachers, and develop not only their intellectual abilities but their confidence and creativity as well. The variety of “specials” (Spanish, music/instrumental, art, etc.) is also most welcome. We feel very fortunate to have found a community in Walden.

My daughter has had a wonderful experience at Walden. She started in the pre-K program at 3 and is now a first-grader. All of her teachers have shown amazing patience and a true desire to know my daughter as a person, including attention to her specific learning style. Manageable class sizes allow an individualized approach to education that really supports children academically. In addition, the teachers and entire staff promote social and emotional learning that helps students to become thoughtful community members. As parents, we originally planned to have our daughter attend preschool at Walden and then take advantage of our district's strong public schools; however, we're now hooked and couldn't imagine leaving!

Our family started at Walden in 2021 after making a big move from the West Coast. We instantly felt a connection with the Walden community because of their dedication to nurturing the WHOLE child…mind, body and spirit. Our youngest is now in his last year of Pre-K and it’s a bittersweet moment for us to leave such a dedicated, nurturing, generous and highly skilled group of teachers (and administrators). We have watched Walden grow into such a multidimensional school; now offering so many pertinent and powerful classes for parents, too! Any parent that wants their child to thrive and also be celebrated for unique gifts should 100% send their child to Walden!

My two kids have loved it flourished at Walden! They feel loved and are able to be their expressive self in ways they couldn’t in other schools. We love and appreciate what Walden has done!!

My daughter has been at Walden in their pre-k program, and I cannot say enough about how wonderful the experience has been for both her and for me. My daughter has some delay issues, and she was nurtured, loved, and given the academic and personal attention she needed to thrive at Walden. Her progress has been amazing. Everyone knows her by name, and she absolutely loves her classmates and teachers and going to school! Her teachers are fantastic, and she was able to receive the special services she needed at the school which made it easier for me as a working mom. The staff have always had great and open communication with me and have gone above and beyond, which I know has contributed to my daughter's progress. If you want to know your child is receiving a great education both academic and social and is truly loved and cared for, go to Walden. I highly recommend this school!

It’s been 9 years. For the past 9 years, at least one of my two boys have spent their day at this amazing place. They were loved, supported, encouraged, inspired, and challenged. I only have a couple more weeks of dropping off my son bc next year he moves on to middle school. Just like his older brother, he’s set up for success. He is curious, motivated, compassionate, aware, and ready. And the teachers at walden made that possible. I love the teachers my boys have had. My oldest is now in advanced math as a freshman, so caring and driven. We never need to challenge him to do his homework bc he learned skills at walden to embrace learning. I am so grateful to their Walden teachers. They made lifelong friends and I feel so lucky we found this school.

Our daughter has really thrived at Walden. For two years, she's been learning and growing socially, emotionally, and academically, and we credit the school and her wonderful teachers for nurturing her development in all of these areas. Walden is a warm and vibrant place. Can't recommend it more strongly!

My three children have gone to the Walden School - one from 4th-8th grade, one from 1st-5th grade and one started in pre-school and is currently in 7th grade. We chose Walden because of its Montessori philosophy and warm, caring community and stayed because of the strong, individualized academics, the absolutely wonderful teachers, the true focus on giving back to the community and taking care of each other (with the oldest kids regularly helping the youngest in the school). The Walden education helped my children become independent, critical thinkers who aren't afraid to march to their own beat, who are kind and considerate and who treat teachers and classmates with respect. I realized what an impact Walden had on my kids even more so after my older children moved on to public school. I also came to value even more the warm relationships my family developed with the teachers and administrators and fellow parents who all had in common a nurturing, peaceful approach to education.

It is hard to find an appropriate place to begin to explain the exceptional experience we have had at Walden! From the very first phone call where we were desperate for a spot in their preschool program, Ms. Kathy was not only informative of the school itself but she lended a kind, gentle and understanding ear to both myself and my husband. She got us in for an appointment that very next day and made us feel right at home from the start. Our daughter’s first year in the preschool program was challenging for a number of reasons, but the Walden teachers, administration, and building staff did everything in their power to make each day a better one for our girl. Coming off of the pandemic, our daughter had an extremely hard time being away from us. However, we knew that even with some early morning tears, she was safe and loved when she walked through those doors each morning. Once our girl finally broke out of that “school jitters” phase and we thought things couldn’t get any better, we learned that the best was yet to come! This is our daughter’s third year at Walden, and she is currently in the pre kindergarten program. She is ecstatic to run through those doors every day to see her friends and teachers. She is making academic growth that is indescribable for a child who has not even started kindergarten yet- reading books, perfect handwriting, adding, counting to 100, and the list goes on! In addition to the outstanding academic performance that we have seen while at Walden, our daughter is truly learning to be a productive member of our household and society as a whole. She is learning to do things like clean up after herself, dress herself, take responsibility for her actions, that her actions have consequences and may affect others, how to use kitchen utensils, to treat others as she would like to be treated, and so on. These classrooms are filled with so much more than just learning materials; they are filled with tools that will help build the best versions of our children. As a parent, and former educator, I promise that you will not regret your decision to enroll your child(ren) at the Walden School. I know we never will!

The Walden School is truly one of a kind. You can feel the warmth and sense of community from the moment you enter this institution. As an alumni, I can truly speak to the benefit of Walden's Montessori approach to education. The vertically age-grouped classrooms allow students to form significant, genuine connections with teachers and classmates as they mature and excel together. Being a student here felt like I was a part of a team or one vast loving family. I find the teacher's acute attention to detail and inextinguishable fervor for their craft to be the formula for success in the classroom. The ability to work at my own pace and to be presented with new challenges daily is something I valued the most at Walden. As a child I transferred to several different schools, yet I've only ever felt at home and complete at The Walden School. This is a place I will forever advocate for!

Our daughter started at Walden pre-pandemic in the Learning Development program. We saw so much growth in her from her two visits per week that we knew The Walden School was the school for her future. We had visited many local schools and care centers and nothing compared. What we did not expect is the community that Walden has created for our little one as well as our family. From the staff and educators to the students and their families, it has been such a fulfilling experience. If you are seeking a school that fosters your child’s curiosity, independence and follows your child’s lead versus forcing them to fit a predetermined mold than Walden is truly the school for your family. We truly cannot say enough good things about The Walden School.

We have been at The Walden School for 8 years now. My two children have thrived in the small, caring atmosphere of the school where everyone knows your name. The school is dedicated to excellent academics, and beyond this the teachers and administrators nurture the children, teaching and modeling respect, kindness, and peace. The classes are small, and the students learn to support each other. At Walden, you get to be you!

My experience with this school is a fairly new one, but I feel compelled to share my family's journey thus far. My husband and I let my son tour the school over the summer as he was at the age to move to the public middle school. Coming from a smaller elementary school we were hoping he'd choose The Walden School due to its size and stellar reputation in the community. Luckily, he wanted to attend Walden after even the first visit! We were thrilled as parents as we knew this would be a perfect fit for our son over the large middle school. There were a few things we needed to get information on to seal the deal. Getting answers to our questions, having a welcoming nature, and a supportive environment were key in our decision. Most kids start at preschool and never leave. My son is unique because he joined in middle school, but it's like he has always attended The Walden School. Everyone from the support staff, front office staff, classroom teachers, specials teachers to even other grade classroom teachers have been kind, welcoming, and supportive. When I think of how we're trying to raise our son I feel confident The Walden School mirrors our values and morals. They instill values such as empathy and kindness all within a less pressure, but nonetheless solid and challenging academic program. A bonus is we love seeing him happy at recess and on the playground still...something most middle schools do away with. We are very pleased, and highly recommend this school to anyone considering it!

We cannot say enough about the Walden School. Our daughter started there three days a week at the age of 2 1/2. She is currently in kindergarten there. The teachers and administration are extremely caring, the families are very involved, and there’s a very positive, open and accepting attitude amongst all. Furthermore the academics of the preschool and kindergarten program is exactly on target and appropriate. Montessori is a brilliant philosophy of education and the Walden School embraces it wholeheartedly. It allows student to discover the world around them and develop a healthy love of learning. Our daughter has grown into an enthusiastic and dedicated student who loves school at Walden. We are not only proud of how she has grown, but we are also proud of the school she attends. It has become her second home!

Walden has really worked out well for our son. He's in 8th grade now and is in the middle of the high school search. He came to Walden in the 6th grade and it's great to see how much he's learned and matured. We've been really impressed with him during his high school visits; his confidence and ability to present himself has shown through. We can also see his academic growth at home. Among other things, he's been making jokes using obscure historic references and his wordplay is showing that his vocabulary has expanded, greatly. And as with most teenagers, that's not only due to his teachers but also his friends/classmates. They all seem to help motivate each other and to "normalize" exceptional learning...all while supporting each other and having fun. As a side note it's also great to see teenage boys and girls able to hang out and have fun with each other in class, during recess and at lunch. Or even at one of the get-togethers at one of their parents' houses over the summer or on weekends. So, overall we've been very happy with Walden and feel it's been a great choice for our son.

My children attended Walden for pre-school and kindergarten, and there's so many wonderful things I could say! The teachers and staff are knowledge, friendly, and highly engaged. They treat our children with love and respect. Our younger son has spent 4 years at Walden from the caregiver/child Learning Together program through kindergarten; and we can tell he is extremely prepared for 1st grade. Our older son only spent his kindergarten year at Walden and was clearly ahead of the other children when entering 1st grade. I can also see a difference in the excitement about learning, reading, and math from our younger son (who spent all of his time at Walden) vs. the older son.... I believe our younger son is farther ahead academically than the older son after being immersed in the Montessori philosophy of education for a longer period of time. He is super excited to be a "leader" in the classroom, now that he is in kindergarten, and tells us about the different work he does each day. We try to emulate the Montessori lifestyle at home as well, and being in a Montessori classroom has fostered a high level of independence from our children. Our kids enjoy helping out around the house and they don't look at it as "chores," rather they're "making our house beautiful." All of the teachers and staff will forever hold a special place in our hearts due to their caring nature and passion for seeing children thrive and create.

The Walden school has been a game changer for our son Logan. Walden’s holistic approach to learning allows kids to gain a great education through the Montessori method, while gaining life skills like teamwork, leadership, respect, emotional intelligence, and more. In just three years, our son has gone from a shy, not so confident kid to an outgoing self assured young boy. I like to think that I’m a good parent but, I have to say, he’s not the person he is today without Walden.

My three children have attended Walden, one from 4th-8th grade, one from 1st-5th grade and one started in preschool and is currently in 5th grade. As a family we have loved our Walden experience so much that we initially intended for our children to be there for 1-2 years and they ended up attending for many more. Our children have each developed strong character and a sense of caring for their community. They've been part of a respectful, warm, compassionate environment where kids can interact with older and younger children and both as mentors and mentees. They've loved the individualized teaching style and all of their teachers have been excellent and incredibly dedicated to their craft, their students, and to the Walden School as a whole. We are very grateful also for Walden's support during some challenging times my children and our family have experienced over the years.
