I'm writing a review from what I've researched and experienced as a student there. I myself say (and this is just my personal opinion) that Huth is an OK school. Now if you are thinking about sending your child there to achieve vast academic goals and hoping for educational opportunities...DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO HUTH! The students there are very immature and misbehaved...although the school is majority black I believe 90% and I'm saying this as a black student myself. The teachers aren't the kind and caring type either some will talk about your child (Or if you are a soon to be student, I hope not, than you) behind his or her back. Now the activities are fun so that's one good thing. One thing to know about the students is they are very um how do I say this...cliquish...the mainly stay to themselves or they're group so if you have plans as a student to make a million friends go ahead and trash them cause I'm a brutally honest person and what i'm telling you is the truth...they will not just let you in and except you, you have to work to be accepted. The area in which the school is located is Matteson (I don't exactly know if the area would be considered trashy but I personally don't like it). Now lets talk bus riders...I'm a bus rider myself and one thing to know is you have to get up EARLY...the students on the bus are misbehaved and immature also...they speak profanity and talk about...um...inappropriate things so I would suggest (If you don't want to be in an over sized yellow vehicle with a bunch of misbehaving kids) be a car rider. All that to say this...DON'T SEND YOUR CHILD TO HUTH PLEASE TAKE IT FROM ME!!

This school is good. Huth takes Matteson, Richton Park, Olympia Fields, and Park Forest. We also have some students who may come from other communities. The school is 90% Black and a majority of the students are lower income and receive free and reduced lunch. Despite, some of the issues students may face, they do well here at Huth. There are some rowdy kids, but it is usually controlled compared to the violence we have had recently at the local high school. Although, many of the students attend Southland high or others high schools in the area once they leave Huth.

Huth is pretty good school. It has improved a lot academically over the years, thanks to great administration from the school and the district. They also provide great connection to the nearby award winning charter school in the community.

Well, let me start with the education. The education is good here.. If you are In gifted which is decent but good education for schools around here. Now regular education is ok but below average. I am a 7th grade gifted student at huth for the 2021-2022 school year. Now the administration. Teachers are good here but emotionless. Female teachers show some emotion, While male teachers don't really. The rest of the staff is good. Now students. It all depends on you, people here like to stick with their group or people that match with their personality. Now activities. Male basketball Is good for ameture basketball players or near-advanced. Female basketball is good for beginners since the team Is decent. Band Is really strict and good for challenging activIties it's the best band in the district and you will have fun and learn quickly. DRUMLINE, IS THE MOST DIFFICULT ACTIVITY IN THE SCHOOL Discipline is really good for drumline, you need a good mindset and dedication to handle this. This drumline is harder than anything you been in before middle school when it comes to in school activities. Bus is the worst experience for good kids, bad kids find It the best, it gets worse in afterschool. Lunch Is horrible, you might as well not eat. If there Is anything you want me to cover let me know. p.s they already give you a laptop to take home and meet covid expectations.

I believe that the faculty at this school is top notch, but the administration is ok. All in all I’m looking forward to see what Huth has in store this school year.

Huth is a good school for the area, the administration is great, the academics are great, and the district really cares about the students and the teachers here especially in gifted are amazing and do their best to help students out.

Huth is a decent school. The only problems i have as a student is that most of the times, teachers talk about you behind your back. Word spreads like wildfire in the school. If you're thinking about sending your kid here please first consider the High schools in the area such as Rich Central, Rich South, and Rich East. Huth is really diverse either. I personally kinda like it like that because since the school is mostly black, there aren't that many race issues. Also, try to get your kids into teams 1 -3. NEVER GO WITH TEAM 4. NEVER GO WITH TEAM 5 (if your kid is special ed.) The teachers don't care what happens to your kid in team 4 and the kids in other teams are usually prejudice towards the team 5 kids. Team 4 is also sometimes compared to prison sometimes. The after school activities are pretty good. he track team and basketball teams are amazing. The band is pretty good too. That's my review. Class of 2015 right here. :)

Huth is a pretty good school, but academically not really. The teachers get mad when we don't understand certain things or didn't learn that in the previous year. The food is cold most of the time, and its uncooked. The activities after school are very fun, and we get to hang out with our friends after practice. Now, as far as the buses, I do believe that they should add bus aids because the students on the bus act like they don't have a care in the world and just use profanity all the time. The teachers talk about the students behind our backs and they are very racist. If your thinking about sending your child to Huth.. Make sure that they end up on Teams 1-3 NOT team 4.. Otherwise you will probably want to drop your child out of the school.

Huth is a decent school IF you are in the gifted program. While the term 'gifted program' is misleading, some teachers are wonderful. A gifted education here is like regular education in a better school. A truly determined student here need not to be sent to one of the mediocre Rich Schools but rather to Marian Catholic (by scholarship) or Southland. This will be my 2nd year, and though I am not looking forward to the immature students, there is something to be learned in its walls, if you seek. Parents, don't be too upset if your child attends this school (although you should be if they are NOT in the gifted program), but try to find alternative options for high school because I'm telling you; the high schools in this area are the WORST. I just wish that most students would realize the value of education, avoid modern society's bad influence, and make this school a better place.

If by all means you were reading this out of desperation to rummage ONE good thing about Huth despite numerous negative reviews, you're in luck. You want your child to get AT LEAST a decent education? Get him into the gifted program. But that doesn't end all problems. The gifted program equals the average class in an excellent school, so tell your child to exhaust every possible resource available in the classroom. The best students matriculate into Marian Catholic High School with a scholarship, a well-regarded catholic school in Chicago Heights, or Southland, a public charter to save college-bound students from the mediocrity of the Rich High Schools. The 2013 Valedictorian of Marian currently attends Harvard University and a senior in Southland recently got accepted into Princeton. If your child attends this school, a school with an infamous bad reputation, don't fear; make sure he doesn't end up in one of the Rich Schools, and a really motivated child would stand out and shine and WILL be noticed by top universities amidst the mediocre student body, whatever the case will be. I knew that the school website doesn't give much information, so I'll make a 2nd one.

This is my 2nd year at Huth, I'm looking forward to the new school year. The teachers are caring and concern, the Principal inspires the students. It's a good learning environment and striving to be excellent. It takes more than the staff to bring about a change, so I'm looking forward to doing my part. Good Luck :)

I'm a student at Huth and this would be my second year. Huth is an ok school but the students are terrible and I don't feel that the staff is doing enough. Another problem I have is for kids riding the bus. At the moment I have to ride the bus, but I have to get up really early. The teachers are always talking about how it's good to get some sleep and but I have to wake up at around 5:45am just to catch the bus. I also don't like how they treat us like little kids. We have to walk quietly in a single file line just to get to our next class that's only a few feet away. It's almost like they can't trust us. I also wish the kids would switch classes so we could get to meet other kids. I'll be moving soon (fortunately) so I won't have to deal with this.

Huth is unfortunately a very poor school. A couple good teachers but overall a very poor school, academically and socially. My daughter is presently in 7th and she's always informing me of what movie she watched in class or what kids fought & posted it on YouTube. I'm moving just so I won't be pressed for my other 3 kids to go here.
