I have been very disappointed with this school. My husband and I moved from another state for our jobs, and when looking for a school for our son, we did our due diligence and researched the surrounding school districts. What Jackson Local does NOT tell you is that if your child is a newcomer, he will be treated very differently. My son on several occasions has stated that he feels "invisible" there - people are not necessarily mean, they just act like he doesn't exist - students AND teachers. He has joined a few different organizations, but says because he is "new", people (including staff) ignore him, don't include him, don't talk back when he tries to initiate conversations. I have had several conversations with his teachers AND the principal, and felt very dismissed by all of them. I was given "we care, but there is nothing we can do" to help him feel like he belongs. As an educator, I find this very distressing, and this attitude explains why there are so many destructive and suicidal students in that building (which they also do not tell you). My husband and I are currently looking to move to a different school district, where all children are valued and cared about. We gave Jackson 2 years, and enough is enough.

This school district caters to the wealthy and privileged student. Not our cup of tea. The kids from average income homes can expect bullying. My grandson was treated terribly for not being from a "professional" father/mother. Teachers not responsive to the way some kids are treated.

We moved to Jackson specifically for the reputation of the schools and I can say having sent two kids through the district and a third still there, the reputation we heard about has far exceeded our expectations. Caring teachers, administrators who lead and set the tone for others, community that cares and is engaged with the district, and again, the teachers are amazing at all levels! Thank you Jackson and we are proud Polar Bears!

Great, the teachers are supportive, there is a good arts program, they offer career tech programs to help you succeed in college and/or a future job. As for mentally disabled students they offer specialized classes iep and 504 programs, and even job training.

Jacksons schools get there high marks from sending all there below average students on LD classes that don't count, it's to bad that they won't spend the time needed to teach children that needs a little help with out putting them in LD classes

This school is part of the elitist community of Jackson Twp. If you have money, your child will fair very well. You will be catered and kowtowed. Teachers, activities and resources are the best there is to offer for the wealthy who expect the best out of the public schools they enroll their children in. I would love to see the same opportunities afforded to the much deserved underprivileged high achievers who work just as hard (if not more) than those who have opportunities handed to them in a nice purple & gold basket. Children from lower class/income fall through the cracks of the social cliques and have no chance at lead roles here. These are reserved for the children of the elite. It can certainly be noted that a privileged child who has mediocre academic prowess will be afforded help and resources to succeed because they are from a privileged background. Credit can be given to teachers who will at least do all to prevent a lower class student from embarrassing the district with subpar testing scores. But they will certainly not be singled out and built up by mere basic merit. Bottom line: Excellent school for the rich. If you know how to play the game, your child will succeed.

I would never send any of my children to this school ! I am still old school I have my children work for what they want ! Not here I was told I should not let my son work he will have time to work after collage! Sorry if my boys want a cell phone and a car they better be working to pay some bills! And this school Better say out of my business! I drove my child over 40 mins. To another school he was top of this class, and he got a couple full ride offers to collage.
