The school has improved, since 2020. Our school provides free lunch, after care programs, and more. I'm not get into the details but over all it's a good school, our school has rooms for emotional issues kids and a pass room we have a dean and referrals

I am a 7th grade student here, our new principal is great so far. We have had some changes at our school, the school has a chill room for kids that have emotional issues. The staff and admin are taking their jobs more serious and if a kid gets bullied they send them to pass or they get a level 1,2, and or 3 referral. Phones are not permitted in class's until later in school, the school has lowered the electives but the music programs are great. The school provides aftercare programs for free till 6, and the meals are free

I really like the principal (Mr. Brown). You can tell he is very passionate about his job and wanting the kids to succeed and do their best. Communication is great with weekly/bi-weekly newsletters that provide all the information parents need. My son is now in seventh grade and has had a great experience so far.

I despise the new principal. It is an absolute nightmare to get your child when school finishes if there's even ONE sprinkle of rain! It is even more ridiculous that I have to take off work to come stand in a 45-minute line in the back of the school to call out my child's name so they can release them. There was one occurrence where they would NOT release anyone's child until the rain stopped per the principal's orders! They kept them as prisoners! There were several very upset parents out there that day. I feel like he's on a power trip and feeds off of these rain events. Besides this issue, I have seen videos of this principal "dancing" (showing off) in the middle of the kids' school dance floor. It was pretty inappropriate, to say the least. I can not wait for my child to be done with this school. If you have an option take your child elsewhere!

None of the admins have taken the bullying issues seriously. Videos are taken every day and posted on social media of these kids beating up other kids and NOTHING HAPPENS. There should be a NO PHONE policy implemented, more staff available to monitor lunches, and most of all SOME GUIDANCE for these kids. I have tried numerous times to offer my resources and nothing happens. No replies to my emails whatsoever. When I show up to the school, they pretend they care but they dont. Highly discourage any parents that cares to enroll their children at MMS.

Overall, poor communication. Not enough is done about bullying. Some great teachers, but also, some bad teachers. My daughter had a wonderful experience. My son had a horrible experience, mostly because of bullying. Both kids had the same bad teacher, and had nearly identical experiences in her class.

The principal and her staff need to wake up and protect innocent children from bullies

I am a 7th grade student here at MMS and I have to say that i seriously love it here! They have amazing music program opportunities(chorus, band, orchestra, guitar) along with news crew, art, game design, computer apps, yearbook and more!!! The only way I think my school could improve is by having a better way of discipline. Other than that this is the best school EVER!!!!! Love it here!

Teachers are rude and the guidance counselors are clueless. The teaching/guidance caters to the wealthy parents.

I have a few issus with the extracurricular opprotunities at this school. The only way students are choosen for any athletic teams is if their parents can afford to enroll them in private lessons before the start of the season. Students are not given a chance to learn the sport and enjoy begin apart of a team.

This is our first year at Maitland Middle, although our child is in 8th grade. We have been very pleased with this school. Coming from a private school, we didn't expect much, but have been quite suprised. The Music program is, in my opinion, the finest in the state. We came to the school primarily because of the chorus program and have been extremely pleased. The science program is also top notch. As with any school there are issues, but we have found the administration and staff very friendly and willing to work with us. We are sad our child only has one year at this school.
