First, ACE is a great school because Teachers are given the support and tools from the Leaders of the School to teach and students are held accountable for learning. Our oldest tested in the top 1% on standardized tests and our youngest was advanced to classes above their age as their test results were significantly above the state grade level. Second, since there are only approximately 140 kids per grade, there are opportunities to play sports and be in plays, clubs or bands that you can not find at larger schools. Third, with uniforms and discipline, kids are better behaved than at most schools and there is less disruption in the classroom. Last, there are less social silos and kids across the same grade integrate with each other despite their different interests. We wish that more ACE's could be rolled out across the state.

I wanted to love this school. The hype about this school had me so excited for my baby to have been accepted. If I could turn back time, my child would not have went here. She was there last year for kindergarten, attended August, and the 1st 3 weeks of September this year which is her 1st grade year. we have since pulled her, and she is now in private school. Bibb County schools are just not what they used to be and since you can get financial aid to cover part of private school tuition, I thought it was best. My child was mistreated at ACE. The teachers WILL NOT teach your child unless they are natural born overachievers. Any child that they do not feel is an over achiever, they want to put in special education to get them out of their classroom. The principal, Laura Perkins is evil. When a parent questions a teacher about anything at all. that teacher will not answer but will immediately involve Perkins to do any answering of any questions. Rather than answering or even attempting to explain, she will say "ACE is a school of choice, you made a choice to send your child here. Our teachers are the best of the best, your child is lucky to even be at this school. The fact that your child has a hard time keeping up with the pace here is a reflection of poor parenting rather than our teachers lack of teaching ability" (Taken right out of an email). My child began complaining of stomach aches every single morning and would cry, she would beg me not to take her there every single day this school year. She also had an accident twice because her stomach was so upset from her nerves, and the teacher refused to let her go to the bathroom. As punishment and neglect, my child remained her clothes the rest of the day, even though they require us to keep a change of clothes at school. This barely scratches the surface, there are so many things I can tell you and have the proof to back it. They are not under the Board of Education, therefor they behave as if they have nobody to answer to. I struggle with parents guilt often because I sent my child there. I got her out as fast as I could. She is a completely different child now and loves school after only being in her new school for 2 weeks now. I have 2 older children that are now graduated from Bibb County public schools and I can tell you, those teachers care more your babies than the teachers in ACE ever will. I wish I could post it all here but it only gives me a short amount of words to use in this box.

Too strict like military. No different than a public school. Just no busses. Either you are at the top or down in the pits. If you are a good average student, you are with the funkies.. If you are so called "gifted" you are treated like royalty.

I have two kids at ACE. The teachers are great, staff communicates well. We are staying in the area just for this school. Note, we can send our kids to any private school we would want, but we choose ACE. It is a hard school for sure, and we take it year by year, however I can just speak to the years we have been there...5 so far.

My daughter went to this school for three years and was bullied, call slurs, and lost all interest in school. The best decision we made for her was removing her from this school. The work was not on par with other schools and not engaging enough for most children. I do not believe their test scores are accurately listed on here as I've personally seen several students grades and scores and they were all struggling. *Since changing schools, my daughter's grades are back up where they should be, she's in extracurriculars, and she enjoys school again.

10. My daughter is a student and we are actively involved in her development and working with the school.

Our experience has been excellent. I realize, because of the strict uniform policy, which I love and the heavy work load that some kids who were on the waiting list and came from other schools have chosen to go elsewhere. For the kids that started school here or started middle school here they don't know it can be any other way so the strictness is normal. No school is perfect but this place is pretty close!

ACE is the best thing that has happened to us since we moved to Macon in 2010. I pray on the reg that the parents, teachers, and administration will continue to enthusiastically invest in this project.
