My two children thrive at Westside Waldorf! The school has a warm, involved community and the teachers deeply care about each child. Its holistic, hands-on approach to education has been very positive for my children's growth. As a former Waldorf student myself, I know how valuable this education is and I couldn't have found a better place for my children.

Our daughter is thriving at Westside Waldorf! She is confident, happy, and free to be herself. The teachers, the philosophy, and the environment all support the children in a very intimate and loving way. Each child's individual spirit is celebrated and nurtured. The curriculum reflects the natural rhythms of life. We are very grateful to have found this school after a long search.

We love Westside Waldorf! Our son started at Maple Village Waldorf in Long Beach from the age of 1. Since moving to the Westside we enrolled at Westside Waldorf and the experience for both my son and our family has been nothing but positive. The rhythm of the day has been such a success for our son— knowing what to expect and when gives him a sense of security and calm. The fact that some teacher’s and assistant teachers have been with the school since it’s initiation speaks volumes. Thank you!

My daughter is in her second year at the Santa Monica campus. She absolutely loves going to school every day and created special bonds with her teachers and classmates. We have had nothing but amazingly positive experience so far. The teachers deeply care about their students and all the activities and wonderful celebrations make this such a special environment for early childhood. As a parent I'm always comforted by the calm energy that surrounds the school and I believe a lot of the positive development I see in my child is because of the school, its philosophy and the teachers.

Waldorf education has been a wonderful experience for my daughter. Its focus on creativity, hands-on learning, and emotional development has helped my daughter grow in confidence and curiosity. Our family started at Westside Waldorf over 8 years ago on the Santa Monica early childhood campus. Both of our children are now in the grades program in the Palisades. We love how the teachers foster a learning environment that combines academic rigor with experiential creativity. There is also a vibrant and welcoming parent community where families are able to play an active role in supporting the children.

Our time at Westside Waldorf School has been nothing short of amazing. We enrolled our 3-year-old daughter in the Early Childhood program at Westside Waldorf School, and it has been an absolutely wonderful experience. The Waldorf approach is so different from traditional schooling in the best way possible. Instead of a rigid academic structure, the focus is on fostering imagination, creativity, and social-emotional development through play and hands-on activities.Our daughter has truly flourished in this environment. She comes home excited to share stories about her time outdoors, working with natural materials, and participating in imaginative play. The teachers emphasize rhythm and routine, which has helped her feel safe and secure, and the emphasis on a connection to nature has made her more curious and engaged with the world around her. We've also noticed that she has become more confident and independent, as the program allows children to explore at their own pace without the pressure of meeting rigid milestones.The Waldorf philosophy of nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—has been the perfect fit for our daughter. We couldn’t be happier with our choice!

I have been at Westside Waldorf for 6 years and have watched my daughter Charlotte blossom into a happy, creative, compassionate, intelligent child who is comfortable and confident in her own skin and who loves going to school. We LOVE this school (and we toured and considered every private school in LA).I cannot stress enough the value of having your child in an environment that is emotionally safe - which is what Westside Waldorf is at its core. From the community of family and children it draws (no bullying, very collaborate, socially inclusive and like a warm family) to my child's connection to her teachers / homework / learning which is constantly expanding positively ... In 6 years she has only cried when she couldn't go to school because she was sick a few times. Westside Waldorf is a safe home to its children, and they are able to thrive and learn and grow into the authentic beings they are all meant to be. They aren't meant to "fit in" - they are meant to stand out uniquely and beautifully and the teachers truly embrace this by developing free human beings through imagination, a sense of truth and a feeling of responsibility. If you value authenticity, mindfulness, rich immersive education without unnecessary stress and strain, innovation, health and wellness and real community, this may be the right school for you and your child.

I am the mother of four sons - currently 25, 22, 18 and 10 years old. All were Waldorf educated at a variety of Waldorf institutions (in Nashville, Berkeley, and LA). All are thriving in a complex world. Westside is the best of all the schools I have encountered in my decades of parenting. My youngest son, Ed, is a rising 5th grader at Westside - and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It has become the enriching and joyful epicenter of our life. He is excited to arrive at school each day. He is equally NOT exited when I arrive to bring him home. If you are not already aware of the ways in which Waldorf education differs, dramatically, from most other education models - I encourage you to VISIT OUR CAMPUS over reading on the internet. Nothing online can capture the "magic" that Waldorf offers. All of my sons are happy, active, generous, peaceful, successful individuals and I have Waldorf to thank for that. Check it out for yourself and your children - it will be the best decision you make as a parent.

Love the depth of the Waldorf education here. On the surface it looks beautiful with children singing and doing crafts but what lies beneath is even better - a very intentional rigorous education taught in an implicit manner so the children embodies the education naturally.

As a parent of multiple children and a child psychologist, I am beyond impressed with the school, both academically and socially. The children are so eager to learn and are engaged with the curriculum. The experiential learning is invaluable and the children truly remember how they learn everything. They aren’t just sitting at desks doing rote memorization tasks. They learn to think critically and have a healthy self esteem. In addition to their daily main lessons, they offer handwork, PE (aka games), gardening, mandarin, music, wood working etc. My oldest never complains about his homework (3rd grade) and my first grader is begging for homework. We also love the community. The parents truly value keeping our kids, kids. The teachers also care so much about the students and go home thinking about each one. They tailor the curriculum thinking about each child in their class (ie if they are more on the gifted side or need additional help). Waldorf pedagogy is a blessing and something that is truly needed for children in todays world.

We have been with WWS for over 5 years. We now have one child in the grades and one in the early childhood. You won't find more loving and dedicated teachers anywhere else. Waldorf education is a wholistic method that sees the child as a whole and meets them where they are in their development. My children LOVE to learn. They are happy, curious, and inventive, with a huge love and respect for nature. The community is open and warm. Parents are involved with the school and when we first joined we felt welcome from day one.

Wonderful place for students to learn and grow in their confidence. The teachers are committed to teach the essentials and what is needed for the students to become lovers of nature, appreciation for learning, and taking initiative. My children joined WWS in 2020 for the early childhood program and my oldest is now in the grades. I can speak to the whole-child curriculum which includes Mandarin, Mathematics, Music, Arts and Sciences and an Earth-centered and embodied awareness that are all woven seamlessly through the day. The incredible work the grades and early childhood teachers do here builds an atmosphere of loving kindness that that makes my kids excited to go to school every day.

Your child will be nurtured and loved at Westside Waldorf while gaining incredible learning experiences. We are blown away with the teachers and staff. This a very hands-on child first preschool - you will not find afternoon classes (as not ideal for young children who need rest) or parent-first amenities. Just pure joy for the children and you when you see the smiles on their faces!
